We have a few complimentary tickets to Woody Sez - Life and Music of Woody Guthrie - Ashcroft Theatre

Wednesday 30th January - Saturday 2nd February at 7.45pm, and Saturday 2nd February at 2.30pm - Ashcroft Theatre, Fairfield Halls, Croydon, CR9 1DG

About the show:

Woody Sez celebrates the spirit of American folk legend Woody Guthrie, whose music continues to inspire today's finest storytelling songwriters including Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Billy Bragg. Part music, part words, Woody Sez weaves together Guthrie's songs with excerpts from articles he wrote for the leftist newspaper The People's World to create a portrait of a true American hero, a man who would "always be there whenever working folks fight for their rights". Charismatic Broadway and recording artist David Lutken, who plays the title role, is joined by three multi-talented folk musicians to bring Guthrie's music to life with twin fiddles, guitars, bass, harmonica, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, dobro and beautiful folk harmonies, transporting the audience through the fascinating, and sometimes tragic, life of Woody Guthrie. This show ran in the West End at the Arts Theatre in 2011 and was nominated for an Evening Standard Best Musical Award.

Focus and The John Young Band

Focus
Classic rock Dutch-style as these unlikely 70s chart toppers ('Hocus Pocus' and 'Sylvia') reform to bring their virtuoso Hammonds, flutes and yodelling back to the stage. Still featuring founder member and Rock's only yodeller Thijs Van Leer and the world class drummer Pierre Van Der Linden.

The John Young Band
The former Asia keyboard player greatly in demand for his ivory-tinkling skills. Regularly tours with anyone from Bonnie Tyler to The Scorpions, and an integral part of classic rock bands The Strawbs, Qango and Greenslade. You can also catch him live playing a solo set of original material or with his own band. 'Rock with pedigree!' The band features: Robin Boult (guitars) (Howard Jones, Fish) Frosty Beedle (drums) (Cutting Crew) Ian Salmon (bass) (Arena)

Doors open at 7pm Support - The John Young Band 8pm Main Act - Focus 9pm

Standing tickets only.

Leicester Square this weekend - we have a few tickets up for grabs for something very different: Siro-A – Leicester Square Theatre
Friday 1st February – Sunday 3rd February – Leicester Square Theatre

Often described as Japan’s answer to the Blue Man Group, Siro-A perfectly fuse modern technology with mime, breath-taking optical illusions, movement and comedy all set to a pulsating electro beat. This visually stunning show performed to 30,000 people at the Shanghai Expo and won the Spirit of the Fringe award at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival. Spectacular family entertainment fusing video mapping, laser lights and on stage DJ’s to create entertainment for the next generation.

“A brilliant, bright and beautiful show… some of the most manic and animated human performers you are likely to see anywhere. It’s mime, but not as we know it!” Total Theatre Review

“At one point, I couldn't tell the difference between live performer and projected image. This is a spectacular visual experience. This Japanese company overwhelm with staggering technological interactions between multimedia, performer and audience member”. Broadway Baby
