Still doing well! Did the active thing yesterday aided by my trusty DS counting down and telling me when to 'weweeeeeese'. 30 mins of Tiffany tonight after a dinner of homemade scotch broth and chicken and veg sushi rolls. It's only been a week of keeping track of my food and starting to exercise but I think I can see small changes in my arms and waist so pretty happy so far. Weight wise I think I've lost about 2-3lbs so a nice sensible amount for a week :)

Well done that is brilliant and how good is that noticing the difference already. I'm so happy for you.
I will get back to my Tiffanys workouts tomorrow morning, felt lazy monday and tuesday plus anxiety is my weakness x(
I will be posting my routine tomorrow morning ;)

Hope you're not going a too anxious a time greece :cross: Looking forward to doing some Tiffany workouts and I will do one after the cinema tonight as I'm working 8 until 6 and then as fast as I legally can drive going to the cinema but as her workouts only take 12 minutes I can do one on my return.

Menu of the day:
Porridge (300 calories)
Ham salad sandwich and a weight watchers lemon yoghurt (300 calories)
Belvita biscuits and a banana (350 calories) - I know it's not ideal but I will be eating while the film is on :oops:

As for Rickyraj's alkali/acid balance this is virtually 80% acid which is a bit rubbish as I've been doing my homework (I do look into what people write and see where I can improve (I would say going wrong but as we have 2 from the inspirational thread on here that would be negative thinking ;) ) and it appears (only from what I've read - I don't know really I'm just putting 2 and 2 together) to be the principle behind counting carbs which Biggins does and the nagging me to increase my vegetables (which MrGlass does) to get my fibre from veg not just from grains (which I do :nono: ). It's only when I actually put pen to paper that I realise how rubbish my diet can be.

Heyyy Diane ! Thanks for the kind words ! o/ thank you sooo much but nope im not a professional , i have just been working out for a few years and have just found what methods suit me the most. I didnt actually start by planning the routine , this routine just naturally fell into place for me as the time went on , when i started i just thought i'm motivated enough to be able to take this on but i'm just going to do what i'm comfortable with to begin with and take it from there, and it was very quickly that i was trying all different things until i settled with what im doing now. To be honest my main motivation now is that i enjoy it so much , its a part of my routine and the days when i dont excersise at all i really miss it , its the same as like going without eating for me ! As regards recipes i have loads because i really enjoy cooking so i will try to post recipes as regularly as i have time for , its nearly always going to be indian or indian inspired cooking so i hope you dont get sick of them !

so as promised in my above post heres my first recipe :)

But before that i would just like to say as i have said in my previous post that I dont claim to be a super healthy eater and i dont know how healthy this following recipe is going to be compared to other healthy food alternatives , i dont even know how many calories it contains ! but i think it should be ok , its what i eat anyway as a staple and if it turns out its not as healthy as it should be then at least its a decent (actually much better!) alternative to the unhealthy restaurant or takeaway curries !

so here is moviemannns chicken curry and rice


The following will make enough for a family of four and have leftovers for the next days lunch :D

heres the ingredients

1 kg Diced boneless chicken breast

Garlic and Ginger - i b*y these frozen , its avaiable in most supermarkets in the asian freezer section, they are pre peeled and chopped and crushed and packed into handy packets in cubes. peeling and chopping or crushing garlic and ginger is an extreme headache and time consuming so this is like a perfect ingredient , you will need one cube of ginger and one cube of garlic , you can get garlic and ginger paste but this always contains added (sometimes nasty) ingredients and oils . trust me get this frozen packets and you will be amazed at the covienvience and results .

2 medium sized onions sliced , best variety for authentic curries are the PINK onions , tesoc have started doing these now and are on offer at the moment , the normal white onions will do though , the red onions not so much as these are good for salads only i think , pink onions are actually also known as indian onions and really do make the perfect curries, if your local tesco doesnt have them then your local asian supermarket will deffo have them

3-6 chiillies (yes , try not to skimp on these as they do add taste, if need be slit them into half and remove seeds to take away the potency)


half cup of yoghurt

small squeeze of tomato paste (about 1 tablespoon not heaped)

spices : 1 teaspoon WHOLE cumin (not powder) , 1 teaspoon red chilli powder, 1 teaspoon coriander powder, half teaspoon turmeric powder, salt according to taste (i use 2 teaspoons for this amount of food), 1 TABLE spoon garam masala powder

oil : for true authenticity use corn oil (this will give it a texture you get at the retsuarants ) corn oil is high in polyunstaurates (the good stuff) just like olive oil, you can also use olive oil insteasd of corn oil ,

extra magic touches - 1 tablespoon dried fenugreek (known as kasuri methi) avaible in the world foods section of tesco if not then asian supermarket and handful of chopped fresh corainder both for garnish and that extra magic taste

heres how to prepare

i bet by now your thinking this is too much i cant be bothered making this ! but trust me it only seems long because i have written so much and its only so much because im sharing secrets and tips with you !

sooo

start by heating your pot , add the tespoon of whole cumin , this will be dry frying the cumin and as soon you can get a lovely smell add a GOOD glug of oil , then add to this the sliced onions, to get the best curry the oil needs to be frying all the onions so you may need to add more but if dont want to its fine , once the onions have soften and are browining (but not brown yet) add the cubes of frozen garlic and ginger , amazing smells will be erupting , as the cubes are frozen they will take a few minutes to melt and fry hence added in before the onions turned brown if you leave it too late then the onoins will start to burn , anyway , once the onions garlic and ginger are melted and fried nicely nicely and is looking a good brown colour , ( btw keep stirring now and again throught the whole frying process to make sure the bottoms bits dont start to burn ) then add the chicken and the chillies , keep stirring more and more now until all of the chicken pieces are cooked all the way round the outside, once this stage had been achieved , add the chilli podwer , coriander powder, turmeric powder and the salt (note the garam masalal powder is not being added yet) , keep stirring until the spices have coated everything and have fried too, you have to be careful now as you dont want to burn the spices, but you have to be even more careful that the spices are not underccooked too otherwise you will get a horrid washing powder taste (in my opinion) in the curry , just once the chicken have been coated with the spices give a good couple of stirs throughtout this will ensure its all how it should be , now add the yoghurt , dont add in all at once otherwise it will curdle add in a table spoon at a time (add, mix, add , mixx, add mix) once the yoghurt is in , add the squeeze of tomatoe paste , keep stirring and frying , its gonna need a bit of water now unless you overdid it with the yoghurt , so add some water in half a cup at a time until it reaches the desired consistency of your choice, if you want a really thick sauce like a bhuna then probably no water required, if you want soemthing thinner then as much water as you need , anything more than 2 cups is wayyyy too much , on average about half cup to 1 cup is ok , keep cooking this now on a low heat until the chicken is cooked thorugh and the curry has come togethr nicely , the oil should have started to show at the top , the chicken will have released a lot of its own water too , if thats the case and the curry has become very watery then increase the heat and wait for the curry sauce to reduce to the desired consistency . Once this is done turn off the heat and let it stand, here is where the magic happens, its at this stage you add in the garam masala powder and give a good one last stir, the colour of the curry will now turn into soemthing that will be looking absolutely deliciuoius, now add the table spoon of dried fenugreek over the top of the curry and also the chopped coriander and let it sit for about 5 mins before serving, serve with rice or naan (if im having naan then instead of naan i usually have it with wholemeal pitta bread) and squeeze lemon juice over the plate of food when it is being served . finally.... enjoy !! o/


I have just seen this has become a huuuge essay and i really cant be bothered reading through and correcting any spelling mistakes or errors ! sorry ! best thing is if you have any question please do ask and if any errors have been spotted then please do let us know, but all in all it should be fine, seems like a lot when you read it , but once you have made it once the next time it will be a doddle and its really easy once you know how

oh and i forgot to mention a very important point regards the recipe ... before anything your gonna need a good pot to cook it in as the type of pot you use will deffo affect the type of curry you will end up with. Authenticity requires that you actually use a karahi pot (available to b*y at asian superstores or online ) but i actually think that a good quality wok does a better job .

meal /excerise routine for today was (is) as follows

No gym this morning as had meetings from early morning till early afternoon hence had a pretty big brekkie as lunch was gonna be late and wasnt sure of any mid morning snack , brekkie was orange juice, 2 scarmbled eggs, toasted bagel, cup of tea and a single serving protein shake (chocolate flavour) mixed with water

mid morning - as suspected nothing

lunch - late (2.30pm !) i could have crammed in something but decided to wait till i got home as brekkie was quite good anyway, lunch was last nights leftover chicken curry and rice (mmmmmm :D ) and some tea

mid afternoon (evening actually ! 5.30 pm) - an apple and single serving protien shake mixed with milk

Dinner for tonight (8-30pm) will be oven food which will be fish and chips with beans and lots of salad cream (yummy !) i do plan to have one of those new snickers extra caramel bars that are on cheap at tesco for dessert with some tea

Doesnt sound like a particulrlaly healthy day but its is my off day from the gym as ive been going every day this week and the food is quite normal and in moderation for me :)

Oh that sounds lovely!(The recipe) Today wasn't my best day but I did achieve my calorie goal so not too bad. Had a shocker of a journey getting to work so went for lunch for a cheer up but was good. Had no extra butter or bread and only ate half of the massive bowl of tomato and chilli penne :) soup for dinner as I was still quite full. Will try to do some Tiffany workouts tonight so I can have the weekend off
