I didn't go for that reason, I was doing IMAX Jack the Slayer (free via voucher). But I did get 8 free ice creams and possibly free diabetes now too.
Loooool Ben and Jerrys sure didn't advertise that when they said free ice cream looool.. Maybe they should attach a health warning to the free cone day :P

Was in the usual back row with the Glasgow FMUKERs at Braehead. My friend's OH came with me as he loves sci-fi whereas I don't but willing to give it a go. We managed to fit in 2 Ben & Jerrys ice cream each before the film started but didn't bother with more after . . . unlike some other FMUKERs I could mention . . . name starting with Y . . . who managed to have 5 free ice creams! :p
I have to say that I actually did enjoy the film though I thought it was a little slow at start. I must admit I thought Tom Cruise was looking good . . . dressed or not! In fact, he's maturing very well! ;) The acting was good throughout and I did enjoy recognising the American landmarks.
I'm glad I went to see Oblivion!
You missed the big mistake there. A black box is hard wired into all the systems so the cockpit recording should have cut off at separation, not continue on until the cockpit was swallowed by the big thing. Who in their right mind designs radio reception into a black box? Hard wiring gives a much cleaner signal.

BTW a black box is usually fitted in the most likely to survive position and as you want the crew to survive as well, co-locating them is a good idea.
At Leeds/Bradford I arrived 5:45pm to find the queue already started and getting longer. At 6pm still in the queue but joined the ice cream queue instead and returned to the main queue to wait another 15 minutes before being let in.
Walked into a pitch black cinema - they'ed started it early - then it went off and the lights came up.
When it started properly it was 2:20 again! :wall: I must have seen it over 20 times now and i'm sick of it.
Then the movie proper started and the lights were still on and they didn't expand the image to fill the screen. About 20 minutes into the movie they played with the lights then turned them off. The image remained shrunken all the way through but at least it was watchable.

Rant over: The movie itself was quite good, i'd seen a TC interview where he described how the effects were created in their sky home. Those panoramic scenes were there while they were acting - no blue/green screens - and you couldn't tell the backdrops were projections. The flight scenes had to be blue/green screen but the effects were well done.

Saw it at the IMAX tonight, one of the year's worst with relative ease. Utterly dull, often hysterically inept, poorly done. Lifts from better films with score cues, ideas, plot twists. Awful.

I was quite underwhelmed by this. Cheesy in places, far fetched and unexplained in others, and without any memorable dialogue, characters, or scenes. It lacked any sort of momentum for the first 60/70 minutes so by the time the third act rolled around, it had already lost my interest. 6/10.

I actually like the film... For me it was better than expected.. So I would probably give 8.5/10

However, my wife is killing me now.. as I read post from other saying FREE Ben & Jerry.. She was continuously saying me yesterday that it should be free as almost everyone in the cinema had the ice-cream... :)

By the way.. So do we need had to show the tickets and get the free ice-cream or what was the offer?
