Re: Weight Watchers
Well, its that time of year again, the wonderful month of Ramadhan. Many people say to me that 'I dont know you guys do this fasting ' and ' i really feel for you as its going to be so hard ' and more recently ' the days are so long now and the weather is so hot , how are you going to manage?? '
I always reply the same every year ' its true thats its difficult but I get to eat a whole load of nice food at night times and i can afford to take it easy during this month and relax and take time out during the days , as there are many people around the world who are in harder situations, hotter climate, longer days, forced to worked every hour that they have and STILL they dont even know if they will be able to eat not only during the day by during the night too and some will have to go like this for days on end ... and not only that a lot of them have to see their own families children etc suffer too
I can only try to imagine whats its like for them after having been through a day of fasting and it really does open my eyes and heart.
Its also a very beneficial time of year for us in many other ways too and like all the others who are fasting I try to make the most of it as much as I can . So, as with every year, I have more or less wound down business for this month and will be working minimally so that I have time to do all the things i want to do ; take time out from everything, reflection , appreciation, rest more , more time with family and friends and a whole heap of other things. But, as this is the weightwatchers thread
diet and excersise wise this is time out for me from the whole years rigorous excersising and training that i do , no kickboxing, no weight training , no strenuous cardio, just a couple of moderate cardio sessions per week at night at home to keep me going and also going out on a relaxed bike ride in the evenings when the weather is nice, there are some really great cycle routes near where I am and my eldest daughter has just started riding her bike so i'm sure she will love coming along in her little bike too :) Diet is something i'm not going to be able to control much this month due to the many dinner parties that we are invited to and also dinner parties that we hold too ! It really is a more or less a party every night and this month especially people put a lot of effort into making different foods and desserts and its kind of hard to control your eating !
But again that being said , im not going to over indulge in anyting, i will enjoy as much as i can without going overboard. I do actually usually end up putting on some weight by the end of the month which I am prepared for already but that should come off again quite quickly once ive started training again and going back to my normal meal routine. I just really enjoy all the spiritual, mental and emotional benefits of what we do this month and will be trying to maximise on that :)
So, I probably wont be posting much on this thread as we will have to rename it weight gainers if keep posting what ive been eating
but I will certainly be keeping in touch and reading everyone elses posts and will try to provide some motivation and advice where i can :)
I hope everyone is well, the thread seems to have gone a bit quiet recently but I hope everyone is busy keeping fit, healthy and well !
:)

Re: Weight Watchers
Moviemann that was so lovely to read and it must be a spiritual/mental challenge but I'm sure that you will rise to it. As for weight gainers thread I am on board as a certainly did enjoy my holiday enjoying the lovely food plus as it was so hot didn't do much exercise apart from 2 aqua aerobics sessions, a quick game of table tennis but as I'm rubbish it was very energetic with me chasing the ball underneath peoples sunloungers
, a cliff top walk with our very own Steve his OH and my OH got a taxi to the restaurant but we along with DD walked the 3 to 4 miles there along the cliffs/ beach (I was imagining a gentle walk not like something out of Raiders of the Last Ark
) hence his other half looked so pretty and refreshed in her dress and I looked like I had been dragged through a hedge backwards (which basically I had) plus a couple of 3 to 4 mile gentle strolls as too hot to walk quickly. I have a couple of meals out this week but will be good in between
Has Moggers returned from her holiday and where is everyone else?

Re: Weight Watchers
Glad you had a lovely holiday Diane. It is too hot even up here to do much in the way of excercise. I am away on a coach trip with hubby to Nidd Hall near Harrogate tomorrow until Friday and it looks like the very hot weather is still to stay for the rest of the week. Apart from a few walks sightseeing and a swim in their pool will not be much in the way of excercise and of course there is the cooked breakfasts and three course meals to contend with!

Re: Weight Watchers
Despite being away camping for my birthday weekend and overindulging in beer and BBQ, I managed to fit in plenty of swimming in Loch Lomond and a wee four mile walk with my dog and the OH.
Now I'm home, I'll fit in a weights session before heading out tonight for a feed at 'Viva Brazil' (all you can eat churrascaria!)

Re: Weight Watchers
Thank you so much moviemann. I'm ashamed to say that I have been for afternoon tea at The Hilton in Morecambe as it was my best friends birthday. It was lovely watching the tide coming in while indulging in our tea so I will need to do some serious calorie counting and exercising over the next few weeks. As I worked until 2pm this afternoon no time to exercise before I set off as its 60 miles away. Hope you're having a lovely time JohnMilton.

Back to normality now, Diane! I was feeling very sorry for myself on Monday after overindulging on Sunday night and not getting home until after four in the morning.Diane65 wrote:Hope you're having a lovely time JohnMilton.
Weighed in this morning and I've dropped another pound and now weighing in at 193lbs.
