Hi Valda! Wow, now that is some achievement, and in just 4 weeks too! It sounds like you are finding that the Slimming World method really suits you. Do you have any SW hints or tips that you can share that we could all try?valda wrote:I am so glad I started at Slimming World. Exactly 4 weeks I've been going and I've lost 11 lbs! I'm eating heaps of food too.

Its so strange, I can even eat rice and pasta, as long as its dried not fresh. As much meat, fish low fat cottage cheese or yoghurt etc as I like. Plus the usual fruit and veg etc. There must be some sort of Veg with the meals.
A normal day would be Sultana Bran with plain low fat yoghurt, I always have fruit with it as well. Lunch could be Salad with potoato, egg and cottage cheese. Evening meal could be a bag of Express Rice, with chicken, fish, meat, prawns - anything reasonable. Plus salad or veg.
Each day, you can have up to 15 syns. bearing in mind that a Big Mac is 24.5 syns. On the other hand, Fish and Chips, with the batter removed would be 11 for a normal portion of chips and NOTHING for the fish!
Best thing is no weighing apart from the healthy extras or syns. My 35g of cereal fits in one of those tiny little tuppaware boxes

Re: Weight Watchers
My goodness I certainly made a meal of my DVD tonight as to be honest I couldn't be bothered doing because I knew that it would be hard work as I haven't done it for ages so I spent 45 minutes faffing around. I was checking my tube maps for Sunday then having another look at the Kew Gardens website then thinking I have no time to do it as need to iron one top for tomorrow
I wouldn't mind but it takes 1 hour and it would have been over and done with a long time ago hence just finished it now and wow was it hard
I have given myself another stern talking to and need to do this 3 times a week plus 3 walks if I want to lose weight and get toned - The annoying thing about this is if I had maintained it would be 2 of each plus being able to eat a lot more and it would be a lot easier if I had maintained my fitness
Rant over at myself
It was Preston saying he had done his bike ride on his own which he hates doing (that is on his own) whereas I'm more than happy exercising by myself (well I would be if I wasn't in my lazy lump frame of mind) plus Biggins heading for the pool that inspired me to get it done. Glad its done
Also back on the water thanks to the Biggins for the reminder

Re: Weight Watchers
Well done John Milton! I think I'm just ahead of you in weightloss but not by much and getting less if I don't give myself a shake. No point in starting anything until this weekend is over though :).
I prefer exercising by myself as well Diane, well done on the solo ride Preston!
Valda, one of my friends is now a slimming world consultant after losing a lot of weight with their system, she looks incredible.
Biggins, I'll need to start upping my water too.
Have a great weekend everyone! I'm pretty excited about Leeds and being a VIP!

Re: Weight Watchers
Good morning everyone. Hope you're all keeping well. Moggers have you got your child care sorted? How long until your holiday Biggins? Aruif are you OK? Preston I hope you've recovered from your mega bike ride. JohnMilton hope you're getting into a routine with your new office. Welcome back Valda and when does Baty return from her very long holiday? Andrews are you still being healthy? I will be doing a walk this evening as really need to keep this up.
Menu of the day:
Belvita biscuits and a yoghurt (300 calories)
Ham salad sandwich and an apple (350 calories)
Chicken tikka masala and rice (450 calories) Followed by another yoghurt (60 calories)
I have ran out of healthy food due to gluttony earlier on in the week.
Hope you all have a good day

My river cruise down the Rhine is on 21st September - so not got very long to lose the weight!
Walking into town again today - quicker than the bus with all the traffic and the tourists still here for the Edinburgh fringe festival.

Re: Weight Watchers
During my time away, I think I had forgotten what an inspiration coming to this thread and hearing how everyone else is doing actually was. Thanks Valda for the SW update - it sounds really good, especially the unbattered fish and chip aspect. Who would have thought that they would be allowed!
Well....having read over what all you others were doing foodwise and exercisewise last night and getting all motivated by it, I surprised myself this morning by getting up early, going out and doing yesterday's bike ride all over again. So that's another 2 hr, 22 miler, completed, Yay!! I'm so chuffed with myself and I'm now wondering if I can repeat it on an every other day basis to kick start my diet.
My Mapmyride thing reckons each 22 mile ride burns off 1542kcals - so if that is true, I should be able to have the odd indiscretion food wise and still successfully reduce my weight and increase my fitness level at the same time. I must say though that I felt significantly more tired today after today's ride than I did yesterday, but I guess that's just the cumulative effect.
You've done it before and you'll do it again.
And...I hope that you don't mind me mentioning this, but I was quite shocked to see how few calories your meals contained over the last couple of days. I thought 1200 was considered an absolute minimum and your's were less than that. I do hope that you are not starving yourself - you naughty thing!
Sorry if all that sounds like a lecture - it's just that ....well you know!!
I'm off now to attempt to make Biggins courgette pea and mint soup for lunch - not sure if we have any feta in though, so may have to miss that out or substitute something else (a little Stilton p'raps?).
Today's Meals
1. Porridge with skimmed milk (yes skimmed - not semi-skimmed, that's how determined I am!!) and blackberries.
2. Biggins' Courgette pea and mint soup. Chunk of crusty bread.
3. Big crunchy salad with milano salami and brie.
4. Jacket potato with tuna and sweetcorn.
5. Tea (Earl Grey, natch
) and toast
I'm going to snack on celery and carrot batons from here on in - instead of hobnobs (not that we have any left mind) and cocktail sausages.
Enjoy your day everyone!! Keep posting - I love reading what you've all been up to
EDITED to say:
Just finished making and eating the soup. I did have feta after all, but no peas or mint. So I missed out the peas altogether and substituted basil for the mint. I added veg stock cubes and garlic too - still turned out very good!! - Thanks Biggins!

You really shouldn't be so hard and impatient with yourself Diane. You do so much!! It's no wonder that on occasion you get tired out. Those few extra pounds will soon be history, matey.Diane65 wrote:My goodness I certainly made a meal of my DVD tonight as to be honest I couldn't be bothered doing because I knew that it would be hard work as I haven't done it for ages so I spent 45 minutes faffing around. Re: Weight Watchers
I like it Preston
- courgette, pea and mint soup but without the peas and mint! LOL!
so it was courgette, basil and feta cheese soup! Still as long as you liked it that is the main thing. You could perhaps try the other soup some other time. I've not tried to make it yet myself but will let you know how I get on when I do.
I had tinned mushroom soup for lunch today as too busy to make homemade soup. Prawns and salmon tonight with rosti potatoes. Friends coming round tonight for a drink and a sandwich supper - and of course the nibbles with the drinks! So not good for me tonight as once I start to nibble crisps and nuts I can't stop.
