Re: Gravity
I quite enjoyed it as it was tense throughout parts. Watched at West India Quay were it was very oversubscribed.
Nobody from Cinema Staff was taking into account how many people in cinema. People had gone to counter to p*rchase their drinks/food etc and then waltz in at 6.35 hoping to find a seat. At this point many disappointed lot decided to stay and sit on the stairs or anywhere, alot more than usual. Health and safety hazard but no one from cinema checking. Such a shambles but I bet GRAVITY sure was hurting their backside by end of film. Hint for late comers at 6.27 - Dont walk upto back off cinema and say are these seats free, when clear opportunity at front seats are free, by the time you finish even they are gone...doh.

Re: Gravity
Watched this at Cineworld Bradford yesterday and I totally forgot it was 3D! I was wearing my glasses, normally I would wear my contact lenses...but no biggie! Really enjoyed this movie regardless and quite surprised by Sandra Bullocks acting, seen as though the last movie of hers I watched was The Heat. Two totally different movies! Also considering there was really only 2 actors (George Clooney and Sandra Bullock), the storyline was still very gripping and pushed me to the edge of my seat. Visually stunning and surprisingly a short movie for its type, only 90 minutes! It was all over too quickly. Nevertheless I still think it fully exploited those 90 minutes, so I'm giving it a 8/10.

Re: Gravity
Still thinking about this film the day after - what a great experience. I really think it deserves the almost universal acclaim from critics. It just had everything for me - so much so I'm going to see this again on release at BFI Imax to experience the bigger screen and better sound.

Re: Gravity
Saw this yesterday in a nearly full Wandsworth. Not having read up on it beforehand (I prefer to see films with no background info at all, if possible) I had no idea what is was going to be about. I actually quite enjoyed it - a good old disaster movie but set in space. Quite a nail-biter at times - and it did make me think of the extreme risks the astronauts take. Of course it was quite unbelievable at times, but that’s the way with disaster movies. I felt the ending was disappointing but it was an excellent performance from the normally comedic Sandra Bullock. It was a shame (for us ladies) that there wasn’t more of George Clooney on screen. My heart sank when they handed out the 3D glasses (not a great fan of the gratuitous 3D in recent movies) - however the 3D effects were pretty good and I loved the shots of all the rubbish floating round the deserted space stations. Excellent cinematography with some beautiful shots of earth in the background. A good escapist romp – 6/10.

Watched this last night in Birmingham. Quite liked it. The 3D was better than most.

Re: Gravity
'Film of the Year' is perhaps too generous of an opinion, but I definitely liked it. Visually stunning, and some 3D moments had me jumping in my seat too 'avoid collision'. Quite enjoyed Sandra Bullock and found the concept of limiting number of faces on the screen refreshing. If only some of the dialogue was better, the ending was different and the people around me were not drowning out the sound in the beginning, I'd be looking at a great movie. As it was it was very good, but not perfect.

I was in Wandsworth too, and agree with what you said about the ending.
I would have prefered not to know if she made it or not. Having said that, Empire say there's a Planet of the Apes 'Easter egg; in the film, so I wonder if that was alluding to the ending and her in the sand?
ladams888 wrote:Saw this yesterday in a nearly full Wandsworth. When you think about it,
we don't know if she was saved. She may well have died on that island or be eaten by some wild animal.
