Re: Free Birds
Is anyone coming to the O2 this afternoon for this?
Re: Free Birds
Hmmm. Am glad this was free Birds. Loved the 3D that was in the intro/film company credit - that worked really well for me. The actual animation was far less spectacular in its 3D rendering. Reasonable story, but fairly low on the laughs count and also seemed rather over the heads on children too. "I'm tired now". *sleeps*
Had some child wailing almost constantly throughout in Edinburgh this morning. Waaa!
Lovely to see biggins waving to me before. Sorry I never caught up with you after. You must have run fast!
6/10
Not the turkey it could have been!

Re: Free Birds
I thought that was you wailing SB!
It was annoying enough for us near the back of the cinema but it sounds as if the child was just about where you were sitting. Why couldn't the mother take the child out for God's sake and let everyone else enjoy the film in peace.
Aylthonian and her OH were in the row in front of us and also spoke to chelle1973 who was with her mother and daughter so quite a few fmukers there today.
I liked the film and the 3D started off well but lacked the same impact during the film. Loved the cute little girl.
Too many children got bored and went to the toilet - always a bad sign.
Overall a reasonable animation 6/10

Re: Free Birds
I was really looking forward to this but found it tedious and couldn't wait for it to end. Owen Wilson's voice grates after a while. I think I laughed once. My six year old was bored and fidgety and judging by the other kids in the cinema they were a bit bored too. They really need to make the 3D versions of kids films brighter as the glasses make it dark and if the storyline doesn't grip it's very easy to slip off to sleep without any brightness to keep you focused (as my other half did). Probably worth waiting for this to be on kids weekends cheap showings, I would p*y £1 for 1.5 hours peace and a chance to nod off..

Re: Free Birds
Saw this this morning at Showcase with OH and teddybear1.
Like previous comments, there were a few laughs but not many. The 3D was good and possibly saved the film.
There were lots of similar comments at the Glasgow showing, 'I'm tired', 'how much longer' and 'can I go to the toilet'-again! (and that was my OH-only kidding!) I thought it was a real gauge when the kids aren't that interested.
I was disappointed in the film. There is usually a lot for the adults as well as the kids in these films but didn't seem to be much for either. Lost interest quite early on unfortunately.
5/10 from me (and that was extra marks for the 3D).

Re: Free Birds
I thought this was a pointless film - even for children.
Really what was the point of it?
We passed a man dressed as a pizza slice on the way home and it was tempting to stop for a pizza for lunch with turkey topping!
Oddly enough, "turkey" sums this up rather well.

Re: Free Birds
I'm probably negatively biased as I unintentionally keep comparing it to the far superior Frozen which I also saw today but man I thought this was so much worse than I had expected. Time travelling turkeys sounds like fun, doesn't it? But this film was dull to start with (I fell asleep), overlong, Owen Wilson was annoying and nothing added up (They went back hundreds of years in time yet speech is modern? Meeting back up in a place that's supposed to be destroyed? Not to mention the major timetravelling fail at the end. Etc etc etc).
5/10
5/10
