The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

To that person who keeps going on about needing a copy of Heat magazine for a 9th December screening (and posting it in the most inappropriate places), you have to understand that this is what the magazine says to make you b*y it. In reality the cinema ushers couldn't care less about stipulations like that. They barely know what to do with the ticket printout as it is. So as long as no idiots wave their Heat mag copies in their faces, no one will have a problem. And even then they mostly don't care.

The film looks so silly. It's basically about him daydreaming about fantastical stuff, then he wakes up, and what you saw never really happened. One or two dream sequences can be funny. However, when the whole film is all about this, I'll give it a miss.

Actually that isn't what happens. He does "Zone out" at times but the whole film is not about dream sequences.

To those people going to see the previews at the Odeon on 17th December, please be aware that Odeon are offering those screenings to their Premiere Club Members. This means that Odeon will give preference to the OPC members when it comes to seating.

Details of the participating cinemas are in the Cinema Deals thread in the Bargain Board.

The last time I saw this in Glasgow it meant that the Premier seats were kept for those in their club. :p Not a big hassle but did cause upset the 1st time it happened.

The original film starred Danny Kaye one of my favourites but this film was only okay, maybe I was too young to appreciate it.

I am new to the forum and I did post once about needing a copy of Heat. I then realised chat wasn't allowed there so I do apologise for that. I don't think my post was approved any way.

I've only been to one film preview before and the usher read every word on my print out this is obviously not typical? For Walter Mitty anyway the print out does state in bold text you need the page from the magazine.

I do recall seeing that this has happened in the past, which is the reason I thought I would forewarn people.

I'm always tempted to gloat and laugh at those who have wasted 200 hard earned points on something I saw totally free . . . . but I'm far too nice to do that!

I don't care what people say - I thought it was fantastic. I loved everything about it - the amazingly beautiful cinematography (Iceland!), the soundtrack (Ground Control to Major Tom!), the message about experiencing life, Kristen Wiig with brown hair, Sean Penn, heck, even Ben Stiller. And he directs this - bloody well done. I cheered him on all the way. Might see this again on Thursday.

9/10

P.S. I have never seen the original. Not sure I want to now.
P.P.S No copy of Heat magazine was required. So surprising....
