Back from Glasgow. Am I the only one who saw this this evening?

Personally I didn't think it was bad. I have seen worst and it didn't drag even though it was almost 2 hours long. 7/10

I wasn't at home with this at all, though the scenery was nice. Shame then that we had the tiny screen at Wimbledon Odeon allocated to it.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Nope, I saw it this evening too, at Pants Odeon (thanks raj101). Just hate this cinema. The screening rooms are so small and heads always block the screens as the incline is not enough.

The manageress was asking people to get their IDs or emails ready as we queued outside in the cold, when I got there at 5.50pm, it was already winding its way round the corner! All that fuss and the screening was only 2/3rds full. I sat in a row with a couple of very friendly guys who offered me their sour sweets(!) which is an an acquired taste - wondering if it is anyone here on FMUK?

I enjoyed this, although some bits were a bit predictable. Sit back, enjoy the fantasy and let your imaginations go with it, and it is a beautiful, heartwarming, funny and inspirational film. Ben Stiller and Kristen Wigg were perfect as the two lead characters, and Shirley MacLaine as the mum is lovely. 8/10

stuartboy wrote:How boring was this? It was only redeemed by the fantasic location shots. Given that I had been shown the extended trailer a few weeks ago there was pretty much nothing new in the film that wasn't in the trailer. I feel this will be held together (barely) by the name alone of Walter Mitty. Anyone seeing this film without ever having heard or seen the original will have no comprehension of the phrase used in contemporary times "he's a bit of a Walter Mitty" despite the original having been made some 50 odd years ago.
I can't help thinking that the original premise of someone who tends to go off into vivid daydreams was lost pretty early on in the film as the main character subsequently went off on ever unusual journeys that were actually real!
This film could have - and should have - been called The Secret Life of Joe Bloggs. It would have worked (or not) just as well.
Underwhelmed. I found this film plain irritating.

5/10

Best bit aside from the location shoots was the tiltle sequence with titles etc. being written on walls and as road markings.

Oops! Continuity error - the skateboard in the boy's video was not the one he was given from Iceland.
I agree, this was pretty hard work at times and really felt every minute of it's 2 hours. A few walk outs tonight.

Not much to add apart from yes the scenery is nice and so is the soundtrack, but would've preferred an episode of Planet Earth or something similar.

And surely
everyone worked out that the picture was in the wallet

and I half expected the whole adventure to be a daydream as well, but no he really did transform into Bruce Willis/Bear Grylls halfway through!
This was a bit meh for me, Ben Stiller was quite handsome in it though! 6/10
I never laughed once until he jumped out the chopper
We had two security at this screening  one looked about 12 and asked me nicely to switch off my phone as i walked in. Sure not a problem, but then a few mins after the film started they came in and took their seats up at the back and as the young one squeezed past me his phone went off :giggle: I couldnt resist...so i asked him nicely to turn his phone off!
Preferred cinemas: Any in Edinburgh!

Enjoyed it especially the stunning scenery. Bit Hollywood saccharin and, although not exactly Walter Mitty, the film actually got much better once it moved away from the cringe worthy day dreams. Benjamin Button scene stole the show. 7/10

I found Stiller suprisingly likeable in this when usually his characters are quite annoying. The premise started off well but it lost its way and became rather aimless once Walter started his journey. A promising start but I was left underwhelmed by the end. Some amazing scenic shots and it has the upbeat factor but not one I would rave about nor rush to watch again. 6.5/10.
