I really enjoyed this film, thought MM and JL were great and deserve the nominations. Manchester was full last night. It was good to see the journey MM took as he started off as not a very nice man and it was good to see his transition and the fact he lost all that weight to play the part, he actually looked as ill as he was supposed to be. Probably one of the best things I have seen MM in. One of my favourite films so far this year, would definitely recommend 9/10 from me.

This was definitely the best film I've seen in a long time! Brilliant breathtaking performances from both McConaughey and Leto and to top it all a film with a message exposing the money grabbing practices of the FDA. What's shameful and really sad is that for decades this film couldn't find finance, apparently rejected more that 80 times!
9/10 (-1 for Jennifer Garner who was out of her depth in my opinion)

Saw this is Glasgow and thought it was a wonderful acting performance from both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto....and both would be deserved of an oscar.
I thought the story was intriguing, heart warming and inspirational that he didn't give up no matter what. However, I'm bit squeamish and watched a lot of it from behind my hands.
7.5/10 from me. (9/10 from OH).

Dallas Buyers Club is a very effective emotional story. See it for two staggering transformations and a touching true tale that desrves to be told. While Woodroof is the flawed star of the film, Leto's equally damaged Rayon threatens to steal it away from him. It may not tell the full story, choosing to focus on one frequently unpleasant man instead of many other heroes in the fight against AIDS, but Dallas Buyers Club avoids cliche to become powerful, credible and profoundly affecting. I liked it, but didn't love it. McConaughey and Leto are gobsmackingly great, but they totally carry the rest of the film.

These were my thoughts as well. Two first class performances (and Oscar-winning performances in my view) but the script was not that spectacular. A delicate subject that is handled well but this had no emotional impact on me at all. 7/10.

Matt McCaughney is almost unrecognisable in this, serious De Niro method acting in preparation is immediately apparent. Matts got better ironically as he his good looks have started to erode, his breadth has certainly widened recently.

well made film, not for the feint hearted, but as positive tale of AIDs in the 80s as you can get if theres such a thing when it comes to HIV. Rather than milking the playing of victims to the disease, the focus is on the relationship between the two leads who are as seemingly mismatched as that marriage between capitalism and the AIDs epidemic is. That the leads still relentlessly continue to chase their own versions of the American dream as they saunter swiftly ever downwards towards Stygia is itself a marvel to watch unfold.

I'm afraid I found this dull and dreary. I'd liken it more to Milk which was a far better film. Ok - this was based on real life, but the film didn't actually have much in the way of interest or entertainment about it. Not much drama, excitement, amusement or anything really. As a "documentary" it sufficed to relate the facts but it failed to entertain with it. It was definitely over-long and should have been cut by at least 30 minutes.

As acting goes, Matthew McC did a sterling job of portarying the character, so much so that he was totally unrecognisable. If that is the object of acting then he succeeded in spades. He was certainly convincing.

Unfortunately, for me, this acting masterclass didn't get away from the repetition and sameness of the film. If I heard AyZeeTee one more time I'll scream.

For Matthew (who was far far better in Mud) I'll give this a 7/10, but I'm deducting 3 for this being so (yawn!) boring and monotonous so it ends with a 4/10. Not one I'd rush to see again.

Not really much to add to what has already been said.

Great acting from McConaughey and Leto but the story was very much like a documentary and there was no real drama or tension.

For me this was just an acting master class. I went to see this to see what all the fuss was about and the acting was brilliant just let down by dare I say it a dull story. I was expecting McConaughey character to be more of a maverick in getting around the system in getting life saving drugs.

Busiest Telegraph screening Ive been at in Edinburgh and it was a bigger screen than normal.
I thought this was a brilliant acting masterclass by MM & Jared Leto in the main parts. I have to agree that Jennifer Gardner was way out of her depth and portrayed the doctor akin to a nursery school nurse and she did spoil the film by being the one cog that didn't work.
Good telling of a previously "untouchable/untellable" tale and for those reasons all the more important it's been nominated at the Awards.
