BRADLEY CLARKSON
DAVID HUNTER
TARA DIXON
SUZY BASTONE
ADAM McNAB
TOM FAVA
KELLY CLARE
JAMES DARCH

"ZANETTO"

ITALY. Turn of the century. Villa Elba stands in the Venetian countryside at the foothills of the Alps. COUNT LUCA DANUSSI'S love for his wife, the COUNTESS LIVIA, has no bounds. His grief having lost her in childbirth has no end. He never loves again. Instead he makes a new life for himself helping people: giving land to farmers, opening a school, housing the homeless and... keeping the Mafia at bay. An "everyman" the whole region affectionately nicknames: ZANETTO

"ZANETTO" A NEW PLAY

A true story of a man in Italy where religion has an iron grip, passions run high and life is like an Opera. A world that highlights the appalling treatment of women by religion. A story that is romantic, funny and full of hope. THE TRUE STORY OF MY GREAT GRANDFATHER....after all, WE ARE WHAT WE WERE. Join Claudio & cast as we bring the play to life for the first time on a Spring afternoon at the Arts Theatre.

20/03/14 19:30 Fairfield Halls, Croydon

LONDON MOZART PLAYERS
Conductor - Gérard Korsten

Violin - Anthony Marwood

Programme:

Mendelssohn - Hebrides Overture ‘Fingal’s Cave’

Schumann - Violin Concerto

Schubert - Symphony No. 2.

Renowned British violinist Anthony Marwood returns to Fairfield with Gérard Korsten and the LMP in a concert celebrating the music of the Romantic period. Mendelssohn visited the Hebrides in 1830 and he sent the opening phrase of the overture on a postcard to his sister, writing: “In order to make you understand how extraordinarily The Hebrides affected me, I send you the following, which came into my head there”. Schumann’s Violin Concerto was one of the very last pieces he wrote, but only received its première in 1937 after its dedicatee, the violinist Joachim, refused to allow it to be performed. The première of Schubert’s Second Symphony was also delayed significantly; completed in 1815 its first performance was 63 years later at Crystal Palace.

Offer is for this show only, this performance only, at this venue only
