I saw this at a busy but not full Stratford Picturehouse.
Although I had some difficulties with some of the extreme violence (apologies to the audience for my yelps ), this was an incredible film.
Particularly brilliant were the close combat fight scenes...notably
the toilet, the mud fight, the broom stick, the kitchen, the fight in the car and the final fight
All of the main character's Rama (iko Uwais) fight sequences were absolutely brilliantly choreographed. One after another, the action precipitated at a voracious pace, so much so the film did not seem as long as its two and a half hours. Different, but certainly as fantastic as The Raid. 9/10.

I never thought I'd say this about a film - but perhaps that might have been a bit TOO violent for me.

Despite being a huge fan of The Raid I was very disappointed by this. It was flabby, convoluted and went on about an hour too long. A classic case of sequel bloat.

Did you notice
how the rain disappeared in the mud fight? And that was quite a camera angle in the fight in car!
I saw this at Vue Picaddilly and as a film I'm afraid that it didn't work anything like as well as the amazing first film. There was none of the claustrophobic intensity of the first film due to the single location and continuity of action. This instead had an over-complicated and confused plot of the sort that has been done much better elsewhere.

Where it did work well was as a set of fight scenes which were very well choreographed and which featured some interesting characters. I particularly loved Baseball Bat Man
- why would no-one give him his ball bacK? Although he certainly got his bat back!
Also The Assassin
(all he cared about was his wife and kid!)
and Hammer Girl.

I couldn't believe it when the credits only listed 2 stunt coordinators and 3 stunt choreographers. No actual stuntmen? Who did the stunts, the actors themselves?

I thought this was a little too long but it was very, very entertaining and masterfully done. Hammer girl was awesome and like her, the rest of the film was gleefully violent. Loved it.

I loved the first film, and as others have said, this does suffer from sequel bloat (didn't realise it was 2 1/2 hours long)

This is probably from the fact that it wasn't written as a sequel. I think Gareth Edwards originally wanted to make this film first, but ended up making The Raid - this then got re-written to become the sequel after The Raid did so well

That said, I loved it!

Without a doubt, the most violent film i've seen in years (the guy next to me watched a lot of it through his fingers!), but if you can get past that, the fight scenes were incredibly well done and brilliantly shot. Some of the long takes swooping around the action were fantastic

Hadn't seen the first film and, to be frank, not usually a great fan of martial arts type films but I was enthralled. Excellent fight scenes, cinematography and great fun. As has been mentioned, very violent and was probably slightly too long but thoroughly enjoyed it. An unexpected treat. 9/10

Went to see this last weekend and it more than lived up to my expectations.

There was a stronger story this time around and a greater variety of characters/fight sequences, consequently I actually liked it more than the original & think that currently this is the best film that I've seen (so far) this year.

Overall this gets a high 9/10 from me & I strongly suspect I'll end up awarding it the coveted 10/10 when I watch it again at some point in the not too distant future...
