Blue Ruin

Lovely event at the Covent Garden Hotel tonight. Lots of yummy duck spring rolls, goats cheese tarts, salmon canapes, and cones of fish and chips, and plenty of beers and wines to wash it down. Nice to catch up with elski and valda.

A very enjoyable tense thriller, unpredictable twists and turns, as the protagonist bungles his way in revenge, with hardly any script! Great cinematography. 8/10

Really good intense thriller that has you wondering and thinking all the way to the bitter end.

Graphic scenes of violence, but not gratuitous.

No "stars" needed to carry this - all unknowns as far as I could see.
Well worth a look.

8/10

Curious to see that this was a Picturehouse film - looked like the same logo as our Picturehouses, despite being an American film.

I found this intense and absorbing despite the lack of dialogue. It is a refreshing take on a revenge story. However it does feel too long and drawn out. Macon Blair gives a compelling performance as Dwight but the character feels a bit undeveloped. 7/10.

Saw this yesterday morning and really enjoyed.

Good gritty story, some good moments of dark humour and great performances for the lead actorand the evil redneck family.

I give it 8/10

Saw this on Sunday & thought it was very decent indeed, I was also quite surprised by how tense it got at times.

Overall I'd give this slow burning dramatic thriller an 8/10 & think that it's well worth catching when it goes on general release later this week...

Gripping film with good tension, well acted - on the down side it was one of those film that left you with unsatisfied questions, so it could really be termed as a dramatic conversation starter.
