Re: Football
What do you call the playing area between the opposing goals? I just lazily call it the outfield which I probably just dragged the term from cricket.

There does not seem to be any discipline in the game compared to say rugby which I have recently got into.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:As a cricketer, I am more used to a more gentleman's sportsmanship behaviour so when I started to play five-a-side football league games, I was quite taken aback with the rather violent aggression of footballers on the field. There is something about the sport that incites an ugliness in sportsmanship and I hate it, yet at the same time I loved the thrill of the game and the pressure to score goals and in my case, to save them, as I was permanently put in goal after I started kicking players in the shins and heabutting them on the outfield...including my own players. Personally, I think they should have banned me, there is no place for that kind of behaviour in any sport
Rugby is a much more aggressive sport in my opinion than football, I find it amazing that these giant, testosterone fuelled players, who are no where near pa*d as well as football players, can (on the whole) stay disciplined, respectful to the referee by calling him 'Sir' and sing their national anthem with pride. I've heard from a dedicated rugby fan that England rugby players are asked why they want to play for England and what it means to them. I think that speaks volumes about rugby.
Preferred Cinemas: Vue West End, Cineworld Haymarket, Finchley Rd, Odeon West End, Odeon Leicester Square, Cineworld Shaftesbury Ave, Odeon Panton St, Holloway Rd, West India Quays or anywhere in central London.

Re: Football
You are absolutely right about Rugby, its quite bizarre because players even punch each other in-game but its all totally acceptable and no offences are taken! All part of the brutal game, yet the courtesy and sportsmanship are generally tops. Even cricket these days has lost that "gentlemen's" game status with a heavy increase in sledging.RickyRaj wrote:There does not seem to be any discipline in the game compared to say rugby which I have recently got into.TheyCallMeMrGlass wrote:As a cricketer, I am more used to a more gentleman's sportsmanship behaviour so when I started to play five-a-side football league games, I was quite taken aback with the rather violent aggression of footballers on the field. Re: Football
also am severly fcuked off with websites telling you results.
even on tv schedules or podcasts downloads. Cant the dinosaurs who compose these sites cotton on to the fact that people don't know the results and still want to see a full game when they visit the sites? Ruined my last 16 catchup. Bloody stupid lot. And John INverdale.
