Let's Be Cops
Not nearly as funny as the trailer makes it out to be. I quite like Johnson and Wayans on New Girl but their double act didn't work for me in this film. Johnson's character became downright annoying after a while. The script relies too heavily on jokes about sex or racial stereotypes. It felt far too long and definitely needed to be trimmed.
5/10.

Re: Let's Be Cops
Given the trailer's severe lack of jokes, I went into this film expecting a waste of the talents/chemistry of Wayans Jr. and Johnson, but despite hitting every bland story beat possible it coasted, sometimes hitting actual heights, on the two leads being good together, and a fair amount of chucklesome elements. Given it's from the director of The Girl Next Door, an R-rated comedy that wanted to be raunchy but never wanted to sacrifice heart and character for that some fell a little too flat at times, this film makes more sense in tone. Same situation, there are moments where it hits the gross-out elements but they are quickly backtracked for character moments and pleasantries.
Entertaining enough with a solid story.

Re: Let's Be Cops
Just watched this in cinema, what a movie, had the crowd going, will watch again!!
Re: Let's Be Cops
Formulaic, repetitive (how many times did they drive on to the pavement and hit something) and not in the same league as Jump Street or The Heat, but despite this I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
The 2 leads had a good chemistry and whilst not every joke hit there were enough laughs to make me glad I saw it. 6.5/10

Re: Let's Be Cops
Saw this tonight in Glasgow, thought it was really funny. Lots of laugh out loud moments. It was as expected from the trailer, far fetched and full of nonsense but very entertaining.

Re: Let's Be Cops
Saw this at The Showcase Glasgow with McG, deb1 and teddybear1. They all heehaw'd and laughed out loud most of the way through this but me, not so much. I had an idea before I went that it wasn't really "My kind of movie" and although that turned out to be the case, it wasn't as bad as I expected. There were a few laughs and IMHO it would have made a good (younger) family movie if there had been less swearing in it.

Re: Let's Be Cops
I must say I enjoyed this more than I expected to, I purposely didnt watch the trailer as far too often the best bits are in the trailer and it then spoils the film. I went in with low expections and was surprised to enjoy this as much as I did as these type of films often disappoint - 7.5/10 from me.

Re: Let's Be Cops
This was actually better than I expected it to be, not a classic by any means but there were plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout & time wise it didn't outstay it's welcome.
It also seemed to attract a surprising mature audience...at least in terms of the screening that I attended.
Overall it's an entertaining comedy that did more than enough to get a 7/10 from me...
