I went to see this film for the stellar cast and left being hugely impressed by the story it told, with such with and charm. I was completely unfamiliar with the part of history portrayed (I'd feel ignorant, but I was barely born when all this went down nor living in the UK) and so this was not only a hugely enjoyable film for, but an enlightening one as well. Despite the hardships portrayed it was incredibly funny (particularly loved the early scenes of Nighy and how fierce was Staunton?!) and I left the cinema with a big smile plastered on my face, feeling a little better about human kind. My favourite film of the year so far.

10/10

I went to the premiere earlier this week (thanks very much FT!) and also the after party, which was in the Electric Ballroom from the film. It was very cool how they styled it with posters and banners from the original concert and we all got a variety of stickers (so eighties!) to support the miners and LGSM when walking in as well, which was a nice touch. There was a free bar and lots of tasty canapes and many cast members were in a private area there as well (private only by adding some ropes though) including Bill Nighy and Andrew Scott. We also spotted Stephen Mangan on the floor and Ben Whishaw and Tom Burke earlier before the screening. Ace film and ace party.

Wow that's all I can say, this is up there in my top 5 of the year. On first hearing about this film, I wasn't expecting much, thought it sounded rather boring and unlikely, well I was so wrong. Excellent cast, and period detail down to a T. I remember the strikes just about, especially the busloads of Police being shipped around the country but had never heard of this story. The end had me in tears, even now thinking about it makes me tear up again.

Its hard to remember how it was for Gay and Lesbians, the whole Aids thing, and then to think about The Miners, fighting for their villages. 10/10
preferred locations Shepherds Bush, Westfield, Notting Hill, Central London, Wimbledon, Islington, Wandsworth thanks

Fantastic film, great acting from the whole cast 8/10
A horse walks into a bar and the bartender asks, "Why the long face?"

A pony walks into the bar and whispers, "I'll have a beer, please." The barkeeper asks, "Why are you whispering?".
"I'm a little hoarse."

Saw this at Islington today and thought that it was amazing. It is so refreshing to see a film that not only entertains you but also make you want to discover more about a part of history of which you knew absolutely nothing. Was in floods of tears at the end, it was so emotional. The best film I have seen in ages. 10/10

Loved this film! We went with another gay couple to Wood Green Vue yesterday morning. It wasn't completely full, but not bad for a Sunday morning I suppose.
I thought the film was brilliant. It was admirable how they manage to combine the funny, sweet, and touching moments with the politics, fear and hatred of the time. I found it very thought-provoking to think about how things have changed over the past 20 years, and how things might be different now, or not. I hope that this is seen by a mainstream audience, and I hope people aren't put off thinking this is a 'gay' film as it is an inspiring human story.
There were lots of familiar faces, and I was temporarily distracted by some of the actors as I tried to place where I'd seen them before. Thank you FMUK for filling in the gaps!
I really enjoyed the music, which sent me back to my 80s childhood! It all helped to build a sense of the time.
I was gushing with tears at the end, which was made even more emotional by the fact that it was based on real events. I would have been interested to know about what happened to more of the characters.
10/10 from me.
