Re: The Maze Runner
I saw this while in America.
Several times.
Dear lord, it was perfect. Well not book perfect(which film is?) but it was bloody brilliant.
The Maze. Perfect.
The Grievers. More terrifying than I could ever have imagined.
Gally. I had my doubts about the casting choice. No need. Perfect.
Minho. Better than perfect.
Chuck. Don't get me started on Chuck.
My only quarrel, Theresa got pushed to a side-line character. Nuh-uh. Shes a huge part of the series and was literally connected to Thomas(telepathically) in the books, though I understand why they chopped that out.
Probably the only person here who openly squeeled at James Dashner's cameo too(the author)
9/10
10/10 in IMAX goodness

Re: The Maze Runner
Oooh I really enjoyed it!
Was a bit sniffy beforehand because I loved The Hunger Games and feel these movies are only being made to ride on HG's coat tails... but as with Divergent I loved this one!
Hadn't read the books so didn't see the ending coming!
Lots of teens in the screening but they obviously enjoyed it too because it was very quiet throughout, and the minute the credits came up I heard several "I really enjoyed that".
My guess is someone rich is breeding super soldiers to take over the world lol.
On a side note I am becoming interested in young adult dystopian fiction, they all have the same themes of entrapment and being forced to do things.

Am I the only one who thought it just okay?? Maybe I'm getting old ;-). Lots of action but it could've had more substance at the end but that is just my opinon

Re: The Maze Runner
I can tell you you're wrong. My guess is someone rich is breeding super soldiers to take over the world lol.
Very, very wrong.
It's a lot worse than you think!
There are 3 more films to come noorjah! Oozing with the substance you seek!
The film is very much like the book in the sense of, you are absolutely clueless despite the reveal at the end.

Re: The Maze Runner
SPOILER ALERT!!
An enjoyable, but also forgettable, popcorn flick. This is just a pastiche of better films. I normally like Will Poulter, but I found the Gally character one dimensional and a little annoying. There should've been some sort of explanation on how Gally found and entered the control centre, given the passageway to the exit was securely closed when the others left the maze - this scene does differ from the book. 5/10

Sounds intriguing but a little scary! I'll just have to wait and see what I think about the sequels!weliveandbreathewords wrote:I can tell you you're wrong. My guess is someone rich is breeding super soldiers to take over the world lol.

Re: The Maze Runner
I agree with you: I thought it was just okay. Maybe I've just seen (read) too many dystopian films (books) but I didn't find this original. I'd rather watch the film Cube from the 90s instead.noorjahapatel@yahoo.co.uk wrote:Am I the only one who thought it just okay?? Maybe I'm getting old ;-). Re: The Maze Runner
This was just an OK film for me. I didn't get any real reaction of excitement, surprise or anything throughout the film, although it wasn't bad. 6/10

Re: The Maze Runner
IT clearly shows tally holding one of the beacons in his hand, which would imply hed wrestled and killed a griever to get it, hence why he got stung :)There should've been some sort of explanation on how Gally found and entered the control centre, given the passageway to the exit was securely closed when the others left the maze
But yes it differered a lot from the book but I guess the way it happens iin the book wasn't nearly as 'exciting' from a director's pov
Right then!
Who spotted good ole Mr. Dasher's cameo?
