RIP Orange Wenesdays

#1 Post by Cortone » Thu Dec 11, 2014 1:00 pm

Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but did a search and could not see any mention.

EE to drop 2-for-1 cinema offer after 10 years

Orange or its parent, has been running for more than a decade but will end after the final Wednesday in February 2015.

EE is to scrap its long-running 2-for-1 cinema offer because of a decline in take-up of the promotion. Drop in takeup is considered to be due to people watching online/on-demand.

Price sought by Cinema First was thought to be too high.

Oh no. Orange Wednesday has been the saviour of many cinemas. I only get chance to take advantage occasionally but am very sad to hear this.

tis a sore loss, I remember using it for budget screenings at the IMAX. It worked best when you bent the rule to fit the best possible offers.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Oh no - this is really disappointing. I only started using Orange Wednesday this year really, but I've had loads of use out of it, and it's become quite a custom to go for half-price Pizza Express followed by half-price cinema.
I don't know why they can't just keep it going for those customers that would like to use it. Bah!

Me too. So hurrah as this opens up Wednesdays as a night to go to the cinema, always used to avoid due to the orange Wednesday crowds.

Agree. Always felt left out by this offer.

Surely Half Price Wednesday with EE would work just as well. 50% off equals 2 for 1 after all.

I think tickets at odeon Holloway on a Monday are £5.15, I went with a voucher to see Serena when it came out and was surprised at the amount that the ticket said I was before the voucher and then there were only five of us in the screen!
