Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Wed Dec 17, 2014 12:36 am

Thanks to ritamistry's OH who won a comp and could not go, ritamistry and I went to the premiere of the Night at the Museum last night at the Empire Leicester Square. What a surprise to find it was in the IMAX.

We had to collect the tickets from 20th Century Fox rep at the W Hotel bar, and another surprise, we were given a glass of wine too, and it was very, very good wine! After that, we trotted off round the corner to the blue carpet, where there were human statutes strategically standing along the blue carpet. Amazingly, they could stand so still for so long and in the cold, that you wonder if they were real statutes after all. I really wanted to tickle one to check.

We managed to grab Ricky Gervais for a photo, before his PR agent whisked him away. He was so lovely when I spoked to him. We were given really good seats right in the middle of the screen and about 5 rows from the front so got a very close up view of the director and cast when they came up to introduce the film. Rebel Wilson looked a lot slimmer in real life and is so pretty. Ben Kingsley was there, with Owen Wilson, Ben Stiller, and the new heart throb, Dan Stevens.

Enjoyed the film. It is a lot of fun. Predictable, but quite quirky. Impressive CGI. Lovely cameo from an actor that is not credited, who has a very funny scene. 8/10

Not much different from the first two but still great fun. Sad to see Robin Williams, who looked thin and tired throughout the film and Dick Van Dyke can still move.

Here's my thoughts: http://www.cinemabang.com/night-at-the- ... review.php

I found this to be a disappointing total rehash of the first two movies which apart from yet another change in location offered nothing new or original whatsoever. I felt this despite not having seen either of the first two, but was reliably informed by Ben Stiller on Alan Norton Chatty Show that it didn't require prior viewing of previous films.
So, apart from things coming to life (hardly a spoiler!) in a museum, absolutely nothing happens and there is a paper thin plot. So ad there won't be any more and that it will stay a trilogy.

Very sad to see poor Robin Williams earning his last crust by such a lacklustre paint by numbers performance. Such a waste of a genius.

I saw this last Friday using a voucher and did not find it to have anything original as it had all been done in the previous films. It was entertaining enough but I do think I would have been disappointed if I'd been p*ying!

I caught up with this today using the Sun Odeon Kids, I quite enjoyed it but agree this should be the last one. It was sad to see Robin Williams and Micky Rooney. My favourite bit was the cameo as I hadnt realised one of my favourite actors was in the film.
