Hackney's Finest

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Fri Apr 10, 2015 12:19 am

Saw this last week, got back to London just in time from the Edinburgh FMUKCON, to hop down to the Genesis Cinema for the premiere and after party.

Very dark but very funny, especially with the stereotypical Russian and Jamaican characters. It is extremely violent but it does not take itself seriously. Good action, and it is really great fun, if you take it lightly and not too seriously about police corruption, drug dealing, multiple murders, double crosses, otherwise it is black comedy that can be hard to take in with all that heroin taking and injecting just before any attacks that it is surprising how they managed to get it together, such a send up, it is absurd, with hilarious consequences. 8/10

Hang around a bit at the after party, spoke to the director, Chris Bouchard, who also directed the short film, The Hunt for Gollum. Lovely to see Livi92 and missgotty.

The beginnings of the film felt promising, then it just decayed into pointless violence, racist language and drug taking. Even the directors friend who I happened to be sitting next to felt the whole film was over the top, lacking a decent storyline and I agree with him.

Have to agree the film was a bit of a let down. The only saving grace for me was the Welsh Jamaican bad boys. Their accents were brilliant and had me in stitches. 3/10

Was lovely to catch up with prettyxcool and missgotty. :-)
