Pitch Perfect 2

#1 Post by Yinster » Sun May 17, 2015 9:27 pm

Couldn't find a thread so please merge if there is one

Saw this on a Sunday morning with a voucher. Personally I liked the first one and this didn't disappoint. It focus more on Becca's story even though there is less of Jesse her boyfriend. Good solid fun of the Barden Bella's journey after an incident. Lots of songs and lots of laughs. Glad there were only five of us in total in the screen as we were laughing particularly loud. I don't particularly like Rebel Wilson but she was bearable. If you do see this there is another wee scene involving Bumper and a TV reality show in the middle of the credits. 8/10

pretty much on the same level as the first, several attempts at turning quirky phrases into cool summer one liners, some laughs, again some of which don't work but this time round theres a proper massive grand finale concert to boot. I'll probably see it again for this extra loud finale. It pretty much is the first film, with the volume turned up!

I agree that rebel isn't funny most of the time - shes responsible for most of the poor jokes! the name "rebel" is funnier.

The miming isn't as crisp this time round, but its forgiven I suppose since the chix is (largely) hot. They need to get a move on with the next sequel as most of the cast are starting to look patently 30something. Anna Kendrick literally has a cake of makeup on her. They are supposed to of university age, but when they share space with their mums they sometimes look comparable ages, which is just patently ridiculously inept casting.

Great fun film for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Music harmonies made a great sound. It's a shame that 90% of the audience left before the Voice spoof part way through the credits as it was very funny!

Not as good as the first film in my view but entertaining even if some characters were sidelined and others were given poorly written dialogue and/or were annoying. I gave the first film 8/10 and would happily watch again but I don't think the sequel will hold up well to repeat viewings. 6.5/10.

I mean, let's be honest: you show up to this movie to see people sing acapella mash-ups of popular songs, pretty people dancing, and to see the Bellas bond. This delivers all that. The movie definitely overuses the announcer characters and it would be nice if the actresses got to play more than one note, but it delivers what you signed up for.

I was disappointed with this sequel, and so was my bf. I think that it pales in comparison to the first one. 5.5/10
