Hyped up event, pleased I made the effort to go. The 20 minutes shown looked awesome, looking forward to seeing the rest of the movie. Arnie was on good form with plenty of the old catch phrases played out to full effect. :

Did he do his "I'll be back" catchphrase at the end of the Q&A? I saw a preview of 'Sabotage' last year in Leicester Square and Arnie turned up before the preview to introduce it. As he walked out he shouted "Get to ze choppah!" which everyone loved. Nice guy.

Went to see this tonight, surprised how few people were in the screening, but it was a 5.15pm screening maybe that was why. I have always been a big terminator fan since I saw the original in the 80's, even watched the last 2 on tv :roll: lost count of the amount of times I have seen T1 & T2. I only saw in 2D as that was all my voucher would allow, it may be even better in 3D, but I enjoyed it and more than enough to keep me interested and would definitely watch again if I get the chance. If you like the first 2 Terminator films you will probably like this one. It was good seeing Arnie back in his terminator role. Dont really want to say too much about the film, but dont leave straight away as some extra footage mid credits - 9/10

Should we start a new thread, as this is not a sneak peek! :P

Won tickets and saw this at the FDA Multimedia Screening at the IMAX Empire Leicester Square, a couple of days ago. Was not expecting much, but I thought it was excellent! Both ritamistry and I loved it, and really enjoyed it. If you go with the flow it is entertaining, fun and humorous. The visuals, action and CGI is just great. Arnold Schwarzenegger is just perfect for the part. Seeing it in 3D and at the IMAX helps too. Look forward to seeing it again. 10/10

Terrible film, at least half the people in screening I was in had left by the first hour. Really is nothing new or even good, it's as bad as Terminator Salvation. Anyone comparing to first two has a screw loose tbh. 1/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

A new Terminator film didn't have to be a bad idea. As poor as the third and fourth sequels are, the initial idea is still sound. And with a still game Schwarzenegger back on board maybe we'd even be able to forgive him that bit in 3 were he wears a pair of novelty star-shaped sunglasses for 'hilarious' effect.
Sadly Terminator Genisys is a fairly dull slog for the most part, burdening Schwarzenegger with even more lame stabs at comedy (his creepy attempts to smile is repeated several times to increasingly diminishing effect).
Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney don't have a fraction of the chemistry of Linda Hamilton and Michael Biehn making the moment where they finally kiss excruciating to watch.
JK Simmons does appear to liven things up at one point but then disappears as suddenly as he arrived and while it's now not surprising that exactly who Matt Smith was playing was kept a secret he barely makes that much of an impression either with his limited screen time.
There are couple of okay set pieces, including a scene involving a school bus on a bridge that has its moments but not enough to save it.
Plus when a film starts to remind you more of Johnny Depp clunker Transcendence than a Terminator film you know you're in trouble.

The neat simplicity of the original is replaced by a needlessly complicated amount of impenetrable guff about 'nexus points' and alternate time lines that just makes it a headache-inducing chore to sit through.
And exposition heavy dialogue is bad enough but when it's delivered here countless times and still doesn't help the audience make any more sense of what's going on, that's pretty unforgivable.
Also at several times throughout, bits of the original two films are rewritten by the writers who give the impression they didn't really care that much for them and certainly don't respect their relative simplicity making Terminator Genisys the film equivalent of a bad covers band. Playing all the hits but in a slightly different way because they think they know better than the original artist how these songs should sound.
That the original 'artist', James Cameron, has endorsed this largely tedious offering is a sad state of affairs.
My advice? Just dig out the first two films and pretend they just ended it there.

I agree with PXC I enjoyed it and I'm planning on seeing it again with hubby. Its worth watching in 3D!. I understand that we all do not love the same films, but give it a chance.

As cheesy as this was, I thought it was just a mash up of every other Terminator movie in existence.
There were some unexpected twists but none that wern't already in the trailer, somewhat disappointing in the whole conception on the whole but somehow the utter cheesyness made it enjoyable none the less.
Thought Matt Smith made a good bad guy.

Thanks for your review, very well written, although I did not analyse it as much as you did, for me it was entertaining, and for that I enjoyed it! ;)
