Bad Moms

#1 Post by Yinster » Wed Aug 31, 2016 5:09 pm

Used a Nectar Summer Rewards voucher to see this for free.

Was hoping this would be mainstream rather than some of the other comedies which have an Indie heavy feeling to it. And it was. Light-hearted and funny in parts. It was just long enough to not overstay it's welcome. Really like the Bad Mom trio of Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Christina Applegate and how they juggled being moms and their own individuals. Love the soundtrack to this.

Do stay for the credits to see the all the actresses with their real life moms. Even made my friend have a few tears then. 8/10

It's not going to win any awards, but it easily passes the six laughs test.

Imagine if Mean Girls were now grown-ups.

Kristen Bell and especially Kathryn Hahn get the biggest laughs.

Have now seen this film twice in one week thanks to Odeon Limitless. . . Once by myself because I need a laugh that day and then went again with teddybear1.
I thought the trio of bad moms to be fab . . .they worked so well and each reflected different types of mothers or even just women. Which one are you???

With all the high drama around these days, it was good to see something funny. Some great scenes and thoroughly enjoyable moments.
Reminded me a bit of Bridesmaids but thought this was funnier, oh and Kristen Bell and especially Kathryn Hahn were brilliant! Total scene-stealers. :D

A great way to waste away a couple of hours.

a kind of dumbed down version of Mean Girls, if such a thing is possible, but with adults. I think its popularity is based on just that - adults watch this as a kind of catharsis for themselves wanting to act like little children without ending up in jail and jobless.

There are few good gags in this, the rest are of the kooky American type where they say something unfunny in a long drawly accent (y'all geeet me? youuu betchaa etc, ie not funny!) and are said long long after you've guessed the punchline.

And 90% of it consists of completely impossible situations (who would want to even think about another woman if you had a soccer mom wife with the body of Mila Kunis? get real) - the film really should have ended in the first act in the supermarket(where they would really wake up in jail and slink back to normal life in shame). However the fast pace, a few good scenes and the sheer momentum of adults acting like 11 year olds carries it along so that you probably wont walk out too soon, you'll probably stay to the end.

The casting is ok though, suprising given Kunis is the lead.

3 stars. But why did she even get stressed so? she didn't even have such a bad day.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
