John Milton wrote:Hi all,

I'm on the move again! :D

My OH and I are getting married in August, and she managed to find an excellent deal on flights for our honeymoon. So, we're off to Bali! :)

We haven't booked a hotel yet and I was wondering if anyone has been to Bali and has any recommendations for accommodation, things to do, etc.

Thanks in advance! :)

Congrats John Milton!

I went to Bali many, many moons ago, probably about 15 years ago, so the memories are very distant! I do remember the beautiful beaches with not a soul on them! The warm sunshine and yummy food. I had a Cathay Pacific flight and hotel package which included a day spa and body massage. We were within walking distance from the town centre and overlooked the said beach. I will let you have details if I can find it!

Lucky you! We could not afford it, as the prices were just extortionate for that time of year and I could not warrant spending that much for the whole family to go as it was super peak time! With the prices they were charging before I could do several holidays! LOL

But this year, the fares are at an all time low! Two weeks before I left they had dropped down to £325 return with Cathay! Incredible. ;) So grabbed the opportunity. o/

Wow I have never see Cathay at £325 return

Why do you think we now go around October/November time? Before it was my parents who pa*d for us to go. And usually it was around £700/£800 return. Now it is usually the other way round. We p*y and try always to get under £500 return. Also the weather is a bit hotter than January/February time.

Off to Bangkok for six nights and then Hong Kong for another six nights in November. Travelling with Emirates it is a pricey £437 return per person from Glasgow to Bangkok via Dubai then Bangkok to Hong Kong and finally Hong Kong to Glasgow via Dubai. Apparently we got the Bangkok to Hong Kong flight for free.

Thanks, prettyxcool!

A friend has also been and advised us to steer clear of Kuta, as it is quite commercial and a popular destination for young Australians and backpackers. We've plumped for a resort in Ubud, which looks pretty spectacular, even if I do say so myself! :D

Fab, John Milton! Yes, Ubud is great up in the cool mountains! Way to go. There are Hindu temples and shrines (Gunung Kawi) and Goa Gaja (the Elephant Cave), and beautiful landscapes.

You will have a wonderful time.

That's a good fare, for 3 flights?
