I have no idea who this films target audience is. I'm a 50+ divorced man & much to my surprise I loved it, it was dramatic it was moving & it WASN'T sensationalist which i thought it would be. With the exception of Hell or High Water I have seen all the films in this years Best Film nominations. They all seem to try to intrude on ones emotions except this one. I doubt will win an oscar but its the best film I've seen in a very long time

saw this in a 100% packed screen last night, starts of well but i dont see it as "best picture" or even best supporting actor (for playing a dealer with a heart?)

the two guys in the 3rd act were better supporting actors or even the guy/s in lion.

also feels like the movie was cut really short

Great movie!
The actors had the same look in the eyes.
The music was ok.

Saw this 6/3/2017 in Brighton.. a very interesting film.. i think the hype was because it was a take on gayness and black masculinity.. normally two topics nobody wants to link.. especially the black community.. a brief film of 3 time periods... So the Oscar was for the quality representation and diversity.. a full representation of character rather than 'gayness' in a heteronormative setting.... touching.. moving.

I was interested in the storyline of this movie so was keen to go and see it.

All the cast played their parts well. I felt a mix of both judgement and sympathy for the drug-addict mother. The way the film jump to different parts of the boy's life was really good.

At the end though I had a few unanswered questions which I had to look up on the net.

But on the whole a worthy Oscar winner.
