A Cure for Wellness

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Tue Feb 21, 2017 10:55 pm

Saw this last night at Vue West End. Arrived at 5.50pm and the queue was crazy. Luckily, OH got there early and was one of the first in the queue so we got in pretty quickly when they started to let everyone in at 6pm.

The upstairs foyer was laid out like you were on set. You were greeted with a long table of glasses filled with drinking water, where two nurses sternly order you to remember to hydrate yourself. There is a dentist chair, a tin bath and a table of glass bottles holding some odd things within. We were also offered some snacks, a mixture of nuts and cheese sticks as well as alcoholic drinks. After the screening there were more drinks, and actors in white scientists' coats were going around serving food, Chinese dumplings and fat chips, a strange combination. Also offering phials of potions which were really whisky in one and eider flower in another. A photographer roamed around busy taking photos of everyone. Lovely to see and catch up with quite a few FMUKers.

The film was so strange. It starts off quite normal then it just, well, just goes OTT. Some disturbing images, but also some breathtakingly beautiful cinematography. A very long dreamy psychological thriller with eels and a lot of them! And you will think twice about drinking water. 7/10

The film was okay. Bit lame in parts, bit graphic in others! Some unnecessary scenes too!

I think the 'nurses' handing out the 'hydration' and 'cure' before and after the film were very good! They stayed within character throughout!

Lovely to see ejwrank after such a long time!

I thought this long and tedious. I was glad to get out so missed the unusual combination of Chinese dumplings and chips at the party afterwards. Who thinks of such things?

Glad to see you too, jojojoanne, as well as Missgotty, pxc and her OH and valda in the large crowd.

This is certainly not my usual choice of film but was only screening at the time I had free. Yes it's long and the story doesn't seem to go very far . . .in fact it's strange! I can't think of anyone I would recommend to go and see the film unless they had a voucher and didn't actually care what the film was.

I saw this film recently and enjoyed it, the lead actor was good, was surprised at the end
