The Time Of Their Lives
Re: The Time Of Their Lives
My rating for this film would be a 5.5/10. There were a few funny moments and I did enjoy it overall. The characters were believable and the story kept my attention for the most part. The soundtrack kept the film going for me. I don't regret seeing it but it's not something I am going to rave about to my friends. :)

Re: The Time Of Their Lives
I saw a preview at the Covent Garden Hotel, and was embargoed at the time.
I found it sad and funny at the same time. It's a typical British feel good comedy drama. Easy entertainment.
I liked the love triangle scenes with the love interest, Franco Nero, as the reclusive Italian millionaire. I routed for Pauline Collin's downtrodden character. And Joan Collins actually shows she can act after all. Also stars Nero's stepdaughter, Joely Richardson.

The time of their lives
Really enjoyed this British blank and white comedy with Pauline Collins back to her Shirley Valentine role.
Full of laughs, yet with a serious message...don't stop living your life... Live it full to the end.

Re: The Time Of Their Lives
Saw this yesterday at Wimbledon Odeon. With two big names like Joan Collins and Pauline Collins (no relation), I was really looking forward to this, thinking it would be on the lines of Ab Fab or Thelma and Louise. I must admit that I was disappointed. I thought Joan Collins was great, as the ageing glamorous former-actress – in other words playing a caricature of herself. I was disappointed in Pauline Collins character – playing a wishy-washy drudge of a housewife, racked by guilt over the death of her child forty years ago – her character was never really allowed to develop. I spent the film urging her to stand up for herself. Franco Nero, almost unrecognisable since the days of The Virgin and the Gypsy (1970) (where he didn’t play the Virgin!) played a great character – a gregarious Italian millionaire – with a dicky heart. Joan Collins and Franco Nero carried the film, which is a shame as I normally really like Pauline Collins. The setting, mostly in France was wonderful, and had the screenplay been better, it would have been a great movie. Instead it was simply mediocre. 6/10

Re: The Time Of Their Lives
Worth seeing for Pauline Collins' performance. Sweet and poignant.
Re: The Time Of Their Lives
I went to the Leeds showing. Arrived half an hour early and there were no seats left. There were around 20 people stood near the front and a few sat on the steps.
The cinema staff were asking people to leave as there were too many people inside the auditorium so we didn't get to see the film. Any late arrivals were not allowed through - we saw 10 people turned away as we were leaving.
Been to as few free showings but have not seen this level of excess tickets before. At Hidden Figures a few weeks earlier there were plenty of empty seats and from reading the comments about The Time of Their Lives, Hidden Figures is a far better film.

Re: The Time Of Their Lives
Saw this yesterday and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I had seen the two Ms Collins, Pauline and Joan, discussing the film last week and didn't feel drawn to see it but chose to see it as nothing I'd not seen yesterday. The performance of both ladies was very good though Joan in many ways was simply being herself in many ways. Pauline however was excellent as the downtrodden wife who'd carried a guilt for 40 years. My friend and I both agreed that it was so very relaxing film to watch and would have been a shame if we'd missed it. Story was so mixture of Shirley Valentine meets Thelma & Louise.
