If you've not done so already try and catch it in IMAX 3D.

I had my second viewing of Beauty and the Beast today in the company of teddybear1 and 2 of her nieces, one aged 4 and one aged 14. Interesting to see how children react to the film as my companion on my first viewing was an older lady of 78 plus lots of children in the audience as a Saturday. The audience were very good and very few toilet trips! I couldn't remember whether the opening scenes were included in the cartoon film as it's so long since I watched it but the 4 year old seemed quite happy with it.
Overall, both girls really enjoyed the film and awarded it 10/10 when I asked them afterwards.
I have heard some discussion about Disney having introduced a"'gay character" into the film but I can assure anyone with any concerns that i would doubt if children would even notice . . .at most he has effeminate facial expressions (and that certainly doesn't mean someone is gay!)
Spoiler
Show
though there is a 2 second scene near the end where he appears to pair up with a man wearing a dress
Disney have produced the most fantastic sets for the film and the costumes are outstanding. There are 3 new songs for the film which do fit in very well and further enhance the story.
Emma Watson was a beautiful Belle and so suited to the part. Dan Stevens as the Beast was wonderful and matched so well with Belle. Luke Evans as Gaston was so clearly manly and played the part with relish.

I loved the film every but as much as my first screening though I did think it was a little darker on screen than I had noticed yesterday but that was in a different screening room.
Marks 10/10

Viewing 3 and 4 will be tomorrow with 2 different family groups! Thank goodness for my Limitless and CEA card and Times Odeon 2 for 1 offer. Each group will be 4 people but we will only p*y for 1 child at one screening and 1 adult at the other. Not bad value for 8 people to see the film! . . .mind you this also due to kind Fmukers who gave me Times codes, scootermcc, akh43 and stuartboy.

I have to agree with McG, I also loved this film, in fact I'll go so far to say I prefer it to the animated version. This had more warmth to it. I watched the animated film on Thursday night to remind me of the whole story but the live action version just worked better for me.

It was a sell out Friday evening show with a mainly female audience, although some dads were seen to be taking out small children to the loo.

All the actors including voice actors were perfect for me and I also really enjoyed the new songs.

Not for the first time I've seen advice to see it again in IMAX, so that will probably be my next visit. 9/10 for me.

Now had 3rd and 4th screenings of film today . . .one with daughter and my grandsons . . .other with son, his girlfriend and her 6 year old daughter. Everyone absolutely loved the film . . .one even gave it 15/10!!!
My 6 and 9 year old grandsons were delighted to discover that the characters were at their screening and got their photograph taken with them. None of the children went to the toilet during the film which was fairly unusual as the little ones usually need to go.
Will I see it again? . . .Yip . . .but need a few days gap

I have never seen so many cinemas as busy as I have seen them over last weekend . . .looks like everyone wanted to see Beauty & the Beast. In fact, there is not much else new out this week so no real alternative.

Just caught this for the second time, the first time was in a flat 2:40:1 ratio, the second time was in 1:9:1 3D IMAX. What a difference seeing it in IMAX is, its like watching a different film, the image is opened up for the IMAX ratio meaning you see so much more of the picture. The detail and the colour is nothing short of astounding.

If you've already seen it on a standard screen and enjoyed it, try and catch it in 3D IMAX, I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

excellent effort for such a simple story. Whilst the message being that the real beauty is inside you, thus excusing a plain choice of lead actress, the irony is that its external dressing of the sumptuous CGI and scenery, especially the gorgeous castle, thats the true beauty here. I'd love to walk round that palace. Though I think the walls should have been alive too. Gascon and his pet jack black clone really get stuck into their dastardly roles here to balance out the relatively weak Potter kid. Surely should have been room for a potter injoke but if there was I didnt see it.

4 stars/
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

I loved this too. Saw it with a voucher at Vue Piccadilly, it was packed with 90% female.

It is a beautiful, warm and captivating re-telling of the story, with good performances all round. Emma Watson is a lovely and very charming Belle. The backstory actually brought tears to my eyes. I loved the songs and thought Emma Thompson was great as the teapot as well as the young boy who played Chip the tea cup, so lovable. I also liked that before the credits roll, the cast was shown, along side their characters so you can see who voiced who. A very enjoyable film. Brilliant. 9/10

This was the first movie (animated version) that we took our daughter to when she was three and started her obsession with Disney. Have to say sitting with my now 25 year old daughter at this version I would say that the joy in her eyes was a exactly as it was 22 years ago.

Excellent adaptation of the original and the time flew. What is not to like and Emma Watson was made for the role. Highly recommend and there is not a score high enough that my daughter could give it.
