Mindhorn
Mindhorn
Anyone see this?
The Manchester screening wasn't great, we had 15 minutes of adverts then they showed a subtitled version of the film. The staff tried to fix it, but without any success.
It was very distracting, the subtitles literally giving away punchlines before anyone had spoke, so we decided to leave early. Was it any good?

Re: Mindhorn
I saw it as Odeon Screen Unseen. It was amusing at times but not as funny as it might have been. I found some of the humour forced. I guess it depends on if you're a fan of the Mighty Boosh as to whether it will tickle your funny bone.yogi wrote:Anyone see this?

Re: Mindhorn
I saw this at Islington Vue last night and I have to say I thought it wasn't very good. I laughed twice in 90 minutes which isn't very impressive. On a positive note it does have a clear story line and the acting is quite good. I'm amazed they got funding for this but it is probably a matter of personal taste but just not for me. 3/10

Re: Mindhorn
I saw it at Leeds and I liked it. Once I saw the opening it was obviously going to be completely tongue-in-cheek, so I watched it in that mood.

Re: Mindhorn
This film is painfully rubbish, with emphasis on the pain. Hardly anyone in the audience laughed, apart from one elderly guy who had a cancerous cough which just summed up the mood of the viewing. I would have walked out early but I was with a friend....who later said she would have walked out with me had she known. Instead I tried to fall asleep to block it out, but it was worst waking up to it still going on. Even taking it as tongue in cheek it's torturous.

Re: Mindhorn
It's been a while since they featured a comedy for odeon screen unseen so I was excited about this initially... but then watched the trailer... my first screen unseen for months I've not bothered going to see and going by most of the above, a well judged move.

Re: Mindhorn
Saw this at a special Q&A and screening at the Genesis Cinema.
A lighthearted and funny film. I enjoyed the silliness of this film. It seems to take the mick out of all the detective series in the 1980s. It is wacky and does not take itself seriously, and there are some hilarious visual jokes. Both supporting actors, Russell Tovey and Andrea Riseborough are very funny too. 8/10
Danny Leigh interviews the cast, Julian Barratt and Simon Farnaby, and the director, Sean Foley. They were hilarious.
Stayed for the after party, and had a good evening.

Re: Mindhorn
kind of like the old "Comic Strip Presents" humour, with the feel of a kids programme but in adult tone. Tovey's Kestrel boy is a hilarious highlight. Silly fun made on an Eddie Shoestring.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?
