Stephen King's 'It' (2017)
Re: Stephen King's 'It' (2017)
I saw this with the studes last night and as one of my most anticipated movies of the year I wasn't disappointed. There was one particular jump scene where I just about leapt out of my seat! It was slow paced for a lot of the movie though and I struggled to remain conscious a few times (courtesy of a horrendously early start in the morning, a late night screening and it being the second of a double header for me). Just means I need to see it again. Yay!
Loved Pennywise's mouth. But those teeth! Wow.
One particularly silly scene is the group of lads going swimming in a pond and all wearing identical tighty whitie underpants. I know that was the way in 80s America, but it really just looked like the costume department b*ght identical underwear.
And why do many references to New Kids on the Block? Are they on commission? And the Spielberg references? Were they just to emphasise 80s-ness?
Only at the very end do we see the words "Chapter One" signifying more to come. A welcome sight.

Goonies on Elm Street.
Much better than we'd hoped/feared it would be.
So many King adaptations fail, but this has been made with loving care and attention.
It makes perfect sense to move the story forward from the source's time-frames, so Part 2 will now be in the present day.
It looks incredible, including the ultimate scary old house.
Love the fact, (if true), that this has been released exactly 27 years on from the Tim Curry version.

Awesome movie from beginning till the end. The comedy element was appropriate and well executed and the young cast were excellent. I was a little let down on the horror and gore and would have personally preferred a little more but I still enjoyed watching it and recommend it to anyone.
I hope they make another movie because this movie covers only half the content from the book.

Re: Stephen King's 'It' (2017)
Didnt bring anything new the table, perfunctory King movie. 2.5 stars.
Its not bad in any area, the cast, setting , scenes, script are ok, it just didnt make anything of the opportunity to do something new other than offer unintentional laughs a plenty.
And I just dont get why clown is such a badass, yet the kids are such dweebs. Kids werent dweebs in the 80s, thats a retroactive fallacy. They'd take a crowbar to the clownface back then, I was forever wondering during this film why they didnt try even once. Conversey, if clown is so badass why is he messing with kids rather than taking over the world. kinda dumb.
If you throw in the Dark Tower this year, the tradition of Kings work never really being optimised for the screen continues.

Re: Stephen King's 'It' (2017)
The movie did a fine job in evoking/homaging that Super 8/Amblin/Stranger Things vibe and the scenes with Chunk, Mikey, Mouth and the gang.... sorry I mean The Losers Club were all well done - there was a really nice chemistry between the gang.
In fact I'd have prefered them to go on a different adventure or use the clown scenes a lot more sparingly as I didn't find them scary at all. And, maybe this is in the book, but the clown seemed to have lots of powers, was built up to be very threatening, but was also incredibly easy to escape from and fight and his actions seemed very random. Compared to something like Nightmare on Elm Street, which is referenced, with it's clear set of rules there wasn't any ratcheting of tension for me. And all the scares were just standard jump scares.
Fun, but too much of the unscary clown - a problem for a scary clown movie. Made me look forward even more to series 2 of Stranger Things. 6/10

Re: Stephen King's 'It' (2017)
so I watched this with my friends and truthfully it was not scary for me just funny and an okay plot line 5/10 just because there was so much potential for being scary and really spooky but failed at the best of times the dialogue between the children was the best part of the film

Re: Stephen King's 'It' (2017)
I think this was probably my film of the year so far. The move to the 80s really worked and flows with the current buzz around the decade, even getting one of the Stranger Things boys in for a brilliant, wise-cracking turn. The film was equally adept in horror, terror and genuinly funny kids interplay between members of The Losers Club, while looking great throughout. Aside from Pennywise, you had other threats from the local bully and his gang, and Beverley's incredibly unsettling father adding to the tension. I'd watch this again in a heartbeat 9/10
My concern now is will it have the same charm when part 2 brings in a cast of adults...?

Mee tooo!
Even better IMAX.
Loved the figure of a child in a yellow raincoat holding a balloon standing in front if the screen before it started. Nice touch.
