Wonder

#1 Post by stuartboy » Mon Nov 13, 2017 10:42 pm

Can't believe no one else has seen this - what with the largest list of venues I've ever seen.
Am still wondering why they decided to use prosthetics. Couldn't they have used a genuinely disabled kid? Having said that it was convincing - I had to google to see if the wee actor was just wearing a mask. It did seem to change a little from scene to scene though.
Is it just me or is Owen Wilson looking more and more like Mr Punch with a blond mullet? Lol. Julia Roberts was great as mum.
Man of the match for me was definitely Jack Will.
Headmaster just reminded me too much of Saul Berensen from Homeland!

Thought this would have been fuller since I saw it was advertised in the Metro paper too.

Nice touch being offered sweets on way in and a badge on way out. I'm keeping my badge on tonight - even to bed!

A wa wa wa wa wonder previewed today

As I went along, I wonder
Who could go wrong with this film
A genre that is so strong

...you should know exactly what's waiting behind the curtain. A family movie that's not too sweet, not too painful. Life-affirming if you have a life, tear-jerking if you can produce tears, heart-warming if you have a medical problem.

As I walk on
I still wonder
A why why why why
Spoiler
Show
some characters were given shorter-shrift. We didn't really get to see Miranda get her reward. The bullying storyline didn't really conclude in a teachable way. And Auggie shouldn't have got that award, he wasn't even that ugly!.
I should probably also have said something about it being long although it's not so bad you'd want to

A run run run run

My review looks even more pretentious in second spot.

It was advertised on TV! Yet they seemingly couldn't give tickets away at our venue too. No freebies either.

If there's one about with the same rare condition that's a really good actor, he must be gutted.

Thought this was a very touching, if somewhat predictable, film.

No freebies at my screening.
I enjoyed it. Didn't expect the different perspectives which made the film much more interesting.
Thought Owen Wilson was very good.

I thought this was Wonder-ful... Sorry I couldn't resist.

The second film this week I've seen, after Paddington, with a message that kindness and friendship can conquer all. On both occasions I left my cynical hat at the door and was happy to be swept along by it all.

I believed in everyone, the performances were all first rate and it was good that the other characters were fleshed out a bit.

The only downside was the cinema, I think it was dusty or something as I had something in my eye for most of the film! 9/10

No mention of the wookie cameo in the cast list on IMDB. I was really hoping for a credit of Chewbacca as himself, but unfortunately nothing

Absolutely loved it. Really liked that it wasn't just about Auggie, but everyone around him. All the actors were excellent, no free sweets though and the film was not only late starting, but weren't let in u til 6.22pm so, standing around for half an hour. Typical that the traffic was fine instead of chocka as reported on radio.
10/10 for the film anyway, 2/10 for Showcase Liverpool
