Saw this at a BAFTA private screening.
Good story, well told, but weak and slow start, but persevere and it does get better, fighting for freedom of the press, will they or won't they publish, and the consequences if they do, the drama unfolds. Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep doing their usual, but definitely not an awards winning film. I was gripped by the political drama once I got into it, but my brother fell asleep! 7/10

Re: The Post
I watched this tonight and towards the end I wanted to applaud and cheer. Early on, some of the American politics went over my head a little but it made no difference to how I viewed the film.
Some of the info revealed is rather shocking and it certainly changed my opinion of one former POTUS.
Seeing how women were treated at the time is sad and Streep plays her part well but Hanks steals it for me.
Loved how it ended but I doubt younger viewers will get it

Saw this at a packed Odeon last night with my Times+ ticket.
Really enjoyed this, Meryl Streep was brilliant in it. Just git me thinking this would make a fantastic Double Bill with All the Presidents Men!

Re: The Post
I rather enjoyed this film. There were slow parts, there were parts that hard to decipher but the revelation at the end was justified. Tom and Merlyl did a fine job of representing characters that were flawed but dynamic, showing the role they operated in as well as the supporting characters. 7/10

Re: The Post
So dull and a typical Streep vehicle, purely there to suck up to the awards. Film made out we all knew who all the characters were already. First half was so bad, we had a few walkout in our screening. Small improvement 2nd halfback but not enough to recommend at all. 1/5.
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife
Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

Re: The Post
It's a terrible start because it's about the politics of selling a newspaper company when only Herstory students will have any idea of the context? Even Spielberg seems bored as he throws in plenty of fancy tracking shots for the most mundane of scenes.
It improves but set anything against a ticking clock and it will seem more interesting, kile doonnCuwt rof elexamp (oyu evha tithry cendsos!)
Apparently it was a rushed production so those involved must have thought they were making something really cerebral but if a bit more time was taken and the period was meticulously matched to All the Presidents Men then it could have made a worthy prequel.
