Love, Simon
Love, Simon
I wasn't really expecting to like this, expecting a rather bland American teen comedy, but I found myself really enjoying this. Somewhat original if a teeny bit PC, but it keeps you guessing right up to the end.
Another coming out father-son speech which wasn't quite as perfect as that done fairly recently in another film, but still good none-the-less.
I so want the boy's family! What a perfect Dad, great mum, adorable wee sister - and even the dog was cool (apart from it's name. Really?!!)
Never noticed the passage of time and it never outstayed it's welcome.
Not award winning. Not Ferris Beuller. And not a must have for the DVD collection. It is however well worth a watch.

Re: Love, Simon
Totally agree with your review, sb! I'm not sure if it was aimed at the teenage market but I also found a nice wee film. It will never win any awards but a pleasant story and well handled angst of teenage years and sexuality.

Had the film ruined by a plethora of people messing on phones. Security were useless!

Re: Love, Simon
I'm not the target audience for this but I really enjoyed it as well. It was well done and well paced out. You could believe in the characters and feel for them. It was perhaps a wee bit too sanitised and PG rated to be wholly believable, but that didn't detract. It reminded me of Pretty in Pink and other John Hughes films about teen angst and drama from the 1980s, and I mean that as a compliment.

I was genuinely bored. The characters are very likable but I am definitely not the audience. I am way past my teenage years! A few funny lines 1/10

Re: Love, Simon
I agree with what has been said, I don't really fit the demographic for this film either but really enjoyed it. The kids in the film were likeable and it dealt with a young boy coming out in a very sensitive and heart warming way. It's not winning any awards but definitely worth a watch!
Re: Love, Simon
I really enjoyed this film. It's a teenage story but good enough to appeal to a wider audience. Simon and his friends were all believable and I agree with whoever said they wanted Simon's family - me too!

Re: Love, Simon
I loved the book and the film was a great adaptation. I do very much enjoy YA stories despite my age and I was waiting to watch the film for quite some time, so I think that's why I may have enjoyed more than most. I like this type of smaller budget films because it's driven by the plot and characters instead of stylistic/crazy shots and whatever else money can throw at it, etc.
Overall, A great adaption of a very well loved book.
