Finding your feet

#1 Post by Deanbutlin » Wed Feb 14, 2018 12:12 pm

I would have loved reviewing this film as my partner and I were really looking forward to seeing it.

However, having turned up to a packed Vue Cinema at Meddowhall, Sheffield on Tuesday 13th Feb 2018, we were all very disappointed when at 6:30 a member of the Cinema staff stepped to the front only to inform us that there was a technical problem with the film and that they were unable to screen it.

The cinema and the representative from SAGA (who were the sponsors) couldn't apologise enough. The cinema gave us the choice of either staying for a complementary screening of The Darkest Hour (which we had already seen) or been given complementary tickets to attend any future screening of any film & SAGA/WeTicketIt also said they'd send us free tickets for a future film.

Films seen this year :
Darkest Hour; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri; Ladybird.

Have tickets to see: I, Tonya; Love, Simon; Red Sparrow;

I'd say you had a lucky escape, Deanbutlin. And looks like you might get a number of free tickets to compensate.

Not my cup of tea. It was about 30 mins too long and certainly the dancing scenes needed a good edit. 2 walk outs in Edinburgh.
It was fine but did nothing for me, bland and boring.

Predictable but lighthearted entertainment with a few laughs. Probably best suited to the older generation (like me) which is why it was free through Saga. Joanna Lumley with grey hair!! 8O

The two walk outs were a young couple who came in more than half way through the film - probably from another screening - came up and stood in the aisle as they couldn't find a seat and then walked out.
Nice to catch up with stuartboy.

well some people certainly found their feet quite early during this movie. Me included, after a bit of this doldrums I went to see Greatest Showman again next door.
fav 5 films of the year - Tenet, Bill n Ted 3, Invisible Man, JoJo Rabbit, ?

Looks like I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed this even though I'm not quite in the target demographic.

It was quite broad and a bit clunky at the start as it set everything up, but once it settled down I found it quite charming.

It was predictable, but there are some classy performers in the cast and I think that helped raise it up above the standard rom com fare. 8/10

I thought this was hilarious. Great script writing, great British actors and a feel good movie. They can't really dance but it didn't matter as they all enjoyed themselves. After a tough week, it made me feel better! It's not what I was expecting! "Be more like Biff". Well worth a watch 9/10

Surprised by this film. Was not expecting much but it turned out to be rather charming. Yes, clunky and predictable but so well acted that it carried me along and worked well. 8/10
