The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Saw this at a very comfy Picturehouse in Clapham.
My mum, aunty and husband all gave it an 8/9 out of 10. They thought it was beautifully shot and a nice feel to the story - it was particularly poignant for husband as his family are from there and were evacuated during the war. It could have been a true story as there were some parts of it that he said were quite true to things that he knew had happened.
I found it a bit too long and almost nodded off. 7/10 from me.

Re: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Saw this yesterday at Clapham Picturehouse. A beautifully shot film with a strong cast. I particularly enjoyed seeing Penelope Wilton and Kit Connor in the film, having only just seen both of them in Fanny & Alexander at the Old Vic. At the time, I was very impressed with Kit Connor and made a mental note: “One to watch”. It was also good to see Katherine Parkinson (The IT Crowd) on the Big Screen. Although the ending was predictable, it didn’t matter – as sometimes we just get fed up with sad or open endings. I enjoyed it and didn’t look at my watch once. 7/10

Although predictable I enjoyed this film but felt it was too long and drawn out in places. 7/10

Re: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
It was fine but a bit slow and plodding. It needed some editing.

Re: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Braehead Odeon was absolutely full tonight but it still amazes me how many folk wander in 15 mins after the start who still think they'll be able to get good seats and insist on climbing up the stairs only to trail back down and can only find seats in the front row!
I really enjoyed the film . . .the story is not 'exciting' and no huge action but I was engrossed throughout. The acting was excellent plus the scenery really lovely.
I'm looking forward to seeing it again once its on general release.
Marks 8/10

Rediscovering Cinema
Hi, just been to the cinema for the first time in years courtesy of M&S SPARKS through Show Film First. Saw "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" and loved it. Had a search around and found your site so looking forward to seeing more films that will appeal to northern ladies like me reaching retirement age.
Re: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
It was interesting to see a part of WWII that isn't normally shown on screen.
The film was well played and engrossing if a touch long and predictable. Overall 7/10

It reminded me of Another Mother's Son which is based on a true story.yogi wrote:It was interesting to see a part of WWII that isn't normally shown on screen.

Re: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
I saw this in the lovely Harbour lights cinema in Southampton. The film had an interesting storyline, good acting and beautiful scenery, which I believe was Devon rather than Guernsey. The film for me was about 20 mins longer than it could have been but I Am sure there is an audience for it, about 7/10
