Well that was fun. The train back ran out of fuel and terminated in Sheffield. I had to find another train to get back to Leeds

Re: FMUKCON - Nottingham 21st April 2018
A massive thanks to The Fox for an absolutely fabulous day - the sightseeing, the venue and the quiz plus of course the glorious sunshine. Everything was perfect. Thanks to Prettyxcool and OH and Chelle1973 and her Mum for my presents (I still owe you a cake Chelle1973).
Lovely to catch up with asamaic (thanks for the loan of the bobble), Canadian_turtle (you must be sick of the sight of me), Funthing29 (sorry for assaulting you with my strong nails ), Steve (thanks for the macaroon), Vealster (thanks for my ice lolly) and of course the fabulous Manchester gang (akh43, Suel3288 and Betty Botter and OH for being such delightful friends).
Missed a lot of the regular gang but hope you can make it next year
What a pretty city . We visited the contemporary art gallery, the lovely Pitch and Piano followed by the ever so pretty St Mary's church in the Lace market area - a wedding was taking place later in the day so it was adorned with beautiful flowers. We then headed off to a quirky lace shop and tea rooms - they had some very expensive lace scarves which were lovely.
The Fox then guided us across the main city square showing us the statue of Brian Clough OBE - it was so him with his trainers on and stood up collar.
Before heading off for lunch we had a walk past Nottingham castle and Robin Hood statues (I must say that our tour guide was very knowledgeable).
The pub itself was just so quaint and perfect - the food was very substantial and I can recommend the veggie platter as a main impossible to finish but scrumptious.
After lunch 10 of us took the bus to Wollaton Hall (The Fox made sure that we got on the right bus) and spent a couple of hours mooching around the hall and gardens.
We finished off our day looking around the city having a a coffee and delicious cake in Patisserie Valerie .
A massive thanks once again to everyone for making the Nottingham FMUKCON such a success and for being such lovely friends.
Hope that everyone has got home safe and sound.
Looking forward to FMUKCON 2019.

Re: FMUKCON - Nottingham 21st April 2018
Definitely agree that the Trip was the perfect venue and location. Food was so delicious and massive, I struggled to finish my pie and mash, and was extremely full, that I could not eat anything for the rest of the day, let alone cake!
I have a new love, Nottingham! Thank you to the fox

Re: FMUKCON - Nottingham 21st April 2018
PS I know after the fox did such a good job of pulling off FMUKCON 2018 it will be a hard one to follow, but I had a look at the location that was floated yesterday for FMUKCON 2019 and I think it would work for us. As I know it, I would be happy to organise.
Preferred cinemas:
Vue West End, Cineworld Haymarket, Odeon West End, Odeon Leicester Square, Empire Leicester Square, Cineworld O2, Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue and Odeon Panton Street, followed by anywhere in central(ish) London.

Re: FMUKCON - Nottingham 21st April 2018
Hi everyone!
I'm here and awake after sleeping for 12 hours!!!!!!!!!!
What a lovely 2 days - Friday and Saturday - I've had with wonderful friends. Everything was so perfect even down to the weather.
In a nut shell -
Friday, picked prettyxcool up from the station went over to the Greens Windmill, I'd never been there before and was pleasantly surprised not only is it very close to the city but is a very interesting place to visit and the staff are very helpful and informative. You even get to go up into the mill and look over the city.
With a couple of hours to spare before picking chelle1973 up from the station we drove back into town and came across a lovely cafe in Sneinton Market called Blend. Despite getting our sinuses cleared with Dijon mustard and one of our party sampling the nettle latte we all enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the cafe.
With prettyxcool delivered safely to her hotel, chelle1973 was greeted on platform 3 at the train station and escorted to her hotel.
A gorgeous meal was had in Paste and then we went across town to meet chelle. After a few brandy's, rum, and hot drinks the evening came to a close around 9.
Saturday - started with an early pick up for chelle1973 at 8:45 for a photo drive by shoot of Wollaton Hall as she wouldn't have had time after lunch. All was done in time to meet the others at the train station at 9:35.
Then as Diane said regarding the rest of the tour.
Once the others were on the bus and correct tickets purchased I then took chelle1973 over to the Greens Windmill and then back to the train station via suitcase shopping.
Apologies first - I just want to apologise to Betty Botter as I never thought to ask you if you wanted to join us at the windmill, there was enough room in the car. So sorry.
Big thanks to everyone that came and those that couldn't make it you were missed.
Special thanks to
Diane for rallying up responses on the site and looking after everyone from Wollaton Hall onwards
Prettyxcool for the raffle prizes and my book
Chelle1973 for the pens and biscuits which have all gone already.
It's so nice to catch up each year, to see what's been happening with each of us and seeing how our friendship has grown over time.
Roll on next year, has anyone told Andrews yet ??????????????

Re: FMUKCON - Nottingham 21st April 2018
Stayed an extra day to catch up with friends who live nearby in Bingham.
Had a really, really lovely weekend, and it is really due to the lovely the fox, with all her knowledge, and planning, and her lovely sis driving us around, Diane65 contacting everyone beforehand, and making sure we were all where we should be, from meeting at the station to getting back from Wollaton Hall, and catching up with all the lovely FMUKers, namely, Betty Botter and hubby, Akh43, steve9872, suel3288, asamaic, chelle1973 and mum, Vealster, and lovely to see funthing and canadian_turtle briefly!
Look forward to seeing everyone again next year and those we missed, and hopefully more FMUKers, will join in the fun and friendship, not just virtually!
