When two or three latecomers come in, there’s an empty seat next to you and another one along and they expect everyone to move so they can sit together - what are you planning to do? Chat through the movie???

I know! What’s worse is if a member of staff asks you to move.

I'm sure you turn your phone off promptly but I there are a lot of people who spend a long time switching off their phones -- they insist on checking every email they have ever received and sending umpteen texts as well as scrolling through Facebook, etc. I give them a couple of minutes and then I ask them, politely, to switch off their phones. What they often say to me is not that polite.RevKeith39 wrote:Or if member of staff asks you to switch off your phone while you ARE switching off your phone!!!

Re: Latecomers to screenings and other cinema nuisances
for the first time I realised what a pain the mobiles can be in screens. Usually I've seen them irectly in front of me which hasnt been bad in the past but last night I had the experience of having one to the side of me, and thats when the light from them really cuts into your eye, peripherally.
Fortunately the perp left the screening room after my nasty look, leaving me feeling a bit guilty for picking on a soft southerner but no more issues from then on thankfully.

I've come across most of that. Including a couple getting very intimate a few seats along from me. And this was in an art house cinema!

Re: Latecomers to screenings and other cinema nuisances
I cannot understand why people would dump any kind of crap in the screening room, its easy to carry out with. Is it just a childish reaction to the high prices these days, like trying to get your moneys worth since you were forced to p*y a lot to get in? Seems pointless, since its just someone like you or me cleaning up, so its not a "moral victory" over the staff at all (and its frekin shabby behaviour too). Just carry it out, 5 yards to the nearest bin, done. Why impinge on staff?
Plus when the staff see you carrying your rubbish out to a bin, they grow to like you more. Mine invariably wave at me these days.
