Five Feet Apart

#1 Post by prettyxcool » Tue Mar 19, 2019 12:33 am

Very similar to A Fault in our Stars, cancer is replaced by cystic fibrosis. The film is much more upbeat, but nonetheless still heartbreaking. It redefines what illness is, to appreciation of life, and not giving up, as well as raising awareness of this fatal illness which affects primarily the lungs.

A good story and well told. 7/10

Excellent film, a lot of love and care was put into this and it shows. It's a much needed portrayal of CF. 8/10

I chose to see this film as I had 2 former pupils who had CF who died 6 weeks apart aged 27 and 29. I had a reasonable knowledge of the treatment but seeing it on screen made it so moving. . .that from even a fairly young age these young people know their likely future. The 3 main actors playing the young people with CF were very good and the nurse Barbara (Kimberly Hébert Gregory) also very good. Yes, the film has sadness but it also had hope. They wanted to have a life . . . with treatment
Marks 7/10
Preferred cinemas: Best: Glasgow Quay, Glasgow Braehead, Glasgow Renfield Street, Glasgow Fort & Paisley
Others I'd go to: Glasgow Showcase Baillieston
