Dumbo (2019)

#1 Post by tonethestone » Tue Mar 26, 2019 10:53 pm

Tim Burton hasn’t made a decent film in a very long time, and sadly this one doesn’t change his trend.

The reviews from critics have been scathing and rightly so. De Vito & Keaton good, but the rest is empty. Absolutely no improvement in any way on the original. Huge disappointment. A pointless “reimagining”.

Please stop Tim Burton from making films!

to me its not a bad film or a good one, just an okay family film.

yes it looks great and yes the supporting cast are good but i felt it seamed pretty rushed at the end of watching it

also the two kids looked like they need a good meal or twenty! was shocked to find out one of them is 14... (i can see the social investigating now, i kid)

5/10

Dumbo was nerver my favorite Disney as a kid so I wasn’t expecting much of this one.
Had the chance to attend the European Premiere last week, and I have to say I’m happy I didn’t have to p*y to see it. The movie was ok, but that’s all.

I went to an early screening yesterday as schools here were stopping at 2.30pm and I wanted to see the film the first time in relative peace. There were a few little ones under 4 at the screening but they were clearly not engrossed as they all trailed to the toilet several times. Personally, I loved the film. I detached all thoughts of the Disney cartoon version and treated this as a stand alone film. I thought the story was good and the acting was good. I loved baby Dumbo and could have brought him home with me . . .even though I heard the actors explain that he was only a red laser light during filming. I am seeing it again this afternoon and looking forward to it.
Marks 8/10
Edit: I have now seen Dumbo 3 times since Friday: once on my own, once with another Fmuker and once with a 9 year old girl. Definitely hadn't planned to see it every day but still really enjoying it. :star: :star: :star:

How to take a great original film, change the focus of the story, tinker with the help of modern animation techniques and produce an almost unwatchable mish-mash of a movie. Not good and not recommended!

A bit of a one-trick pony. Once you've enjoyed the novelty of a "live" action Dumbo it's sadly disappointing. Becomes quite tedious after a while and movie lacks the charm of the cartoon. I had planned to take my 5 year old neice this morning but am glad I didn't. I don't think she'd have enjoyed this all the way through. What Jungle Book managed to do in it's live remake this fails miserably. It's just not engaging nor endearing. Such a shame. He was cute too, just had no character.
