Thoroughly enjoyed this! Took me a while to get into and also to decide whether it was American or British as many accents seemed mid Atlantic. I could not believe my eyes at the end credits to discover that I'd been watching Christopher Plummer and not Patrick Stewart, and Jamie Lee Curtis and not Emma Thomson! I also saw Christina Ricci as Marta, yet failed to see Don Johnson at all! I definitely have that thing for faces that Stephen Fry has!

Saw this for free at the showcase in Bristol, and after a slow start it was a entertaining film, though not sure about certain peoples accents. I would recommend it to a friend and give it 7/10.

Ha! I thought that's probably what you meant afterwards! I also failed to realise it was Don Johnson and knew it was supposed to be Christopher Plummer but still kept on thinking it was Patrick Stewart. And didn't realise it was Captain America until my wife pointed it out afterwards. I knew I knew him from somewhere...

I loved it! All the familiar faces too! I knew Chris Evans/Captain America as soon as he came on screen and he was great as the black sheep! It was spot the stars too, from the IT boy to Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, and Christopher Plummer!

All the cast were outstanding, quirky, funny, but what is it with Daniel Craig's accent? KFC, one character remarked of his Southern drawl.

A brilliant and very, very clever and delightfully delicious whodunit!

Rian Johnson follows his divisive Star Wars offering The Last Jedi with his most purely enjoyable effort yet, a modern reworking of Agatha Christie style whodunnits with an appropriately starry cast.

Harlan Thrombey is a successful thriller writer who, after his 85th birthday party at his mansion, seemingly takes his own life.
After it is initially ruled a suicide, his family and nurse are asked to gather at his estate at the behest of renowned detective Benoit Blanc, who has been hired by a mystery client to investigate it as a murder.

Incredibly entertaining and deeply satisfying, Knives Out may well be the most fun you can have in a cinema this year. Johnson and his game cast certainly seem to be enjoying themselves, something that doesn't always translate to the audience but certainly does here.
Of the cast, Daniel Craig is an obvious standout as Benoit Blanc. Tucking into the script with delicious relish and barking out his lines in a hilarious Foghorn Leghorn-like Southern accent, he's a delight to watch. Briefly free from the seriousness of Bond and clearly loving every minute of it, calls for a Benoit Blanc franchise are inevitable and entirely justified.
Lesser known perhaps but just as impressive is Blade Runner 2049's Ana de Armas who has just as much, if not more, screen time as Craig playing Harlan's faithful nurse Marta.
Of the family itself, Christopher Plummer is reliably good as Harlan and there are wonderfully ripe over the top turns from Toni Collette, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson and Michael Shannon.
LaKeith Stanfield continues to excel as the policeman overseeing proceedings, while admirers of Johnson's previous films will be glad that longtime friend Noah Segan makes his obligatory appearance as the inappropriately fan-boyish colleague of Stanfield. Another more famous Johnson regular also has a cameo, though it's a little tougher to catch on first watch. All I will say is keep a close ear out for it.
Fans of US character actors will also appreciate the fleeting appearances by M Emmet Walsh and Frank Oz.

Rian Johnson lays the groundwork for Knives Out's intricate plot with such finesse and skill that you worry if he can stick the landing. He also offers up a crucial reveal not that far into the film that you start to wonder if he's played his hand too early. Thankfully we are in the hands of a master, one who played tribute to the Dashiell Hammett style of detective fiction through a teenage lens so impressively with his debut Brick that it marked him as a writer/director you can trust.
Johnson also does a fine job of subverting the tropes of the whodunnit genre whilst simultaneously p*ying respectful tribute to it.

Essential viewing, see Knives Out with the biggest audience you can.

Really enjoyed this entertaining murder mystery. Did not see the twist coming at the end.

Not too sure about Daniel Craig's accent.

Saw this in a small, packed screen with muddy projection. People were struggling to balance food with winter coats and making frequent toilet trips. There were phones blinking in to life and I could hear people talking. Somebody was announcing each member of the cast as they appeared on screen. I can see how that might have been useful for members of the forum but I didn't need to hear it.

I found the movie an enjoyable enough way to waste two hours but it's not cinematic at all. It's mostly close-ups of talking heads, particularly at the start. So I can't see how this wouldn't be infinitely more enjoyable when viewed at home. The script is the standout feature, it's cleverly plotted although surprisingly simple. I don't think there's a single thing I'll take away from it or think about again and there was a particular tell that seemed puerile and didn't fit the tone of the rest of the film.

I watched this today and while the film was enjoyable, it was ruined at times by 2 ladies feeling the need to play "I know who it is . . ." or laugh at the wrong moments. It's a fairly simple story with only a few twists but worth watching.
