Went to the Premiere and Charity Gala back in December. It just won two Golden Globes, best drama and best director. Well deserved.

A very tense drama of a race against time, across enemy territory to deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers.⁣ Based on Sam Mendes' grandfather's stories that he used to tell him when he was a child. We also learnt that it was filmed in one continuous take.

Lots of cameos, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Madden, Claire Duburcq, and hot priest, Andrew Scott, his character even gives the soldiers a blessing!⁣

Expected to love this but had a lot of problems with it. I think the single take effect hurts rather than helps because I've had better experiences with Saving Private Ryan, Hacksaw Ridge, Dunkirk and even Fury but this felt sterile by comparison.

I think the moral of the story is
Spoiler
Show
don't stop and listen to songs when you've got a job to do, it could get hundreds of people killed and don't watch trailers :nono:

ok i guess but didnt really bring anything new to the table, and it didnt do what it professed to do very well either. The tracking shot was satirised by the obstacle course antics of the actor jumping around on cue, or the obvious white face paints doused on a dying mans face as he swung in and out of camera shots. Risible.
Theres some nice scenic bits but not enough to warrant IMAX.

Still waiting for that one honest war movie where we see Brits being bastiches looking for rape pillage and loot, instead of all the Brits being nice people and all the germans being nasty. 3 stars, s'ok i guess, certainly not too bad, but adds nothing new.

Tad disappointed, technically yes it’s great, but as a film for a casual film go-er it’s pretty average. 3/5
Upcoming films want to see;
Top Gun Maverick
MI 7 & 8
The Many Saints of Newark
Ghostbusters : Afterlife

Best films seen recently;
Tenet
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood
In The Heights
A Quiet Place 2

Do you have a source for any accounts of that or is there an existing story anywhere you can link to? I'll write one for you if it's a real thing.

just tired of our guys always being the default nice guys abroad, its insultingly naive given the shytstorm of the Empire.
I guess noone wants to see a feelbad war movie in January, but a film from your feverish imagination would be something to watch, a sort of feelsurrealandneedadrink movie.
