Good lord, Rod Stewart was born in 1945.

I must say, in the last couple of years, I've seen Al Green, Rod and Katie Melua in concert (don't get out much... where's the smilie playing the littlest violin in the world) and even though I enjoyed all three, the two 'oldies' were much more engaging and entertaining.

This couple sat next to us and the guy said he'd seen Alicia Keys at the O2 earlier this year and felt that Rod was more personable!

Beate wrote:There are some lovely people on this forum, and it means 5rannoch, bevvy, prettyxcool, myself and OH all managed to attend the Rod Stewart concert tonight, and when prettyxcool's friend couldn't make it last minute, the OH gave the last ticket to a stranger in a Rod Stewart football shirt. He was quite determined that we mustn't waste it. And sure enough there were still people wandering about hoping for tickets. I thought of raj101, but he wanted two and we only had one and it was all a bit last-minute...

I was glad that I had tickets in my name as they asked for ID, but funnily enough I was then able to get all the other tickets on behalf of 5rannoch on the strength of that ID, even though they were in different names. We saw Sunny Saver in the SFF queue, and later met tufty by chance as well! The O2 building was packed, huge queues outside every restaurant so we just got ourselves a sandwich at the newsagent and waited for 5rannoch to arrive. We made our way in at around 7.30pm, the concert started bang on time at 8pm, with a 10 minute interval at 9pm, followed by another hour of Rod! He sang all the hits, it was fantastic. The stage show was fab too, I took loads of pictures. We were quite high up but sitting to one side so had a good view of the stage. At one point Rod threw and kicked footballs into the audience, for those we were a bit too high up though! Everyone had a great time, rocking along, the OH loved it. The concert was over by 10.10pm, after two extra songs. The first one was Sailing which is my favourite, and I was on my feet like almost everyone else! The show ended with Maggie May. Well done, Rod, the old crooner still has it! What a pity this was the last concert in London - I could have done this all over again!
I wish they'd done free tickets up here but the shows at Edinburgh Castle were all sold out I guess so no need?!

Maybe I need to suggest concerts up here to SFF?

You are further away and higher up in the Dress Circle but you have an incline and can actually see around people so I would prefer Dress Circle - especially the first row if you can get it.

Forgive me if this is not the right thread to write on. My hubby and I went to see the Dreamboats and Petticoats at Playhouse theatre last night. It's a theatre (just not free ;) ), so, I assume this is appropriate. Thanks to Beate code in the Bargain Board we managed to steal the Stall seats for £10 each (really superb bargain!).

Going not knowing what to expect (except it's based on compilation of songs???) and biggins recommendation, we had a wonderful time. It's like 2 in 1 show, watching a live concert and a play. It really brought me back to 60's (though I'm not that old to actually know it... hehehe) and we were shakin' and rockin' throughout the show. I love Laura's voice. And there's a grandpa actually on his feet most of 2nd act, twisting and dancing... love watching him o/ . may be, the show reminded him of his teens!! Image

the only annoying thing happened last night, there was a couple right in front of me kissing, touching and can't keep their hands off each other probably 70% of the show. I almost going to tell them to get a room. Almost everyone on my row and their row pointing to them, whispering even those next to them. I even heard people talking about them during intermission. they were too busy to notice!! Can't they tone it down or wait for just merely 3hrs. Especially when I looked around the audience more than 60% were in their 50's, of course they got annoyed seeing uncontrolled public affection. Affection yeah but uncontrollable :nono: .

I see people have been chatting about Dreamboats on the other thread but I'm not posting any more deals; this is just to endorse the favourable comments. I saw it some months ago on a half-price deal from the TKTS booth so the cast has since changed but it was a great show - really enjoyable and uplifting. Just the thing for bad weather, too, though good any day.

Same applies to Priscilla, too, which I saw on Thursday: you might not be in the mood to start with but you get swept along eventually - both are pretty irresistible!
