Re: Weight Watchers
Gotta make sure you do those exercises religiously, Glassy, and take care of your athlete's heel. And look at the bright side...at least its not athlete's foot.
Hmm.....if an athlete gets athlete's foot, what does a cosmonaut get?....Mistle toe?

I think Alsingning and Jmd made some suggestions but I forgot what they were! I'm thinking, Green Arrow, as I used to read those comic books but thats probably boring to you lot, so go on give me some ideas...

Re: Weight Watchers
I went for my first run in 2 weeks last yesterday around Peckham Rye Park...I know my heel hasnt completely um..heeled up but I just had to run! Wasnt expecting a good run since it was a little while so I just jogged at first and took it easy. With my new running shoes feeling nice and comfy I stepped up the pace to my normal running pace, listening to some retro 80s, 90s pop and film scores. Yeah pretty weird play list, I'm like that. "Eye of the tiger" played about 10-15mins in and I thought OK, lets see how far I can go...
So I started running at 7pm, bright, sunny, but quite cool, just right. Then came a phase of strong winds that nearly blew me off onto the road (how much weight have I lost to get blown off by a frign wind?). But I kept running. Then it rained. Still I kept running. 1 hour 54 mins later it was pitch dark and because I was running around my local park now in darkness, I was getting strange shivers of Blair Witch symptons for some reason (maybe I shouldnt go see Last Exorcism on Tuesday?!) but additionally my legs were finally telling me: for Christ sake , Stop! I looked at my Runkeeper guage which tracks my distance and found I ran 19.1K! Whoaa, my furthest run! And no heel pain. Not a bad time either. But how? I'm supposed to be a bit rusty, is it because I have a great new playlist? Is it because I'm fresh? Was it because the darker it got in the park, the more I felt like running away from a certain witch?
What ever the reason, I had only one feeling, it was YEEEEEUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHH, Great North Run, HERE I COME!!!

Re: Weight Watchers
lol, you do lose track of time when running while listening to music, thinking weird stuff, especially when Eminem is playing. And I never look at my runkeeper (which is on my Android phone) in my pocket. So time actually flies and i really was getting disturbed when I ran pass a particular tree for the umpteenth time and disconcertingly, did not look like a tree anymore...Sydney_Bristow wrote:Good onya!
I don't think I could run 19k without realising it

Re: Weight Watchers
At least you were running around the park.....imagine if you had just kept on running away from your starting point, discovered that you'd run 19.1k and realised you'd have to run all the way back home......
Glad your heel is better

Re: Weight Watchers
WOW MrGlass that is pretty impressive running, I would have been petrified running in a dark park on my own and with my vivid imagination (hence don't do horror films) I couldn't do it.
So pleased your heel is getting better with only 4 weeks to go.
The Green Giant, The Green Goddess in your leotard or Kermit the Frog?

Mr Glass, congrats on the 19km, thats amazing, I can’t ever imagine running that far at once, especially without realising it!! Fingers crossed your heel is completely healed in time for your big run
Did you decide what you’re going to paint on your face?
Thanks everyone for your suggestions on the leg, I stopped running for a couple of weeks and it seems to have made it much better, just managed to run 7km, hoping to build up to 10km this week. It’s strange, when my leg was bad, it hurt too much to run on but was ok when I went spinning, I’m not sure why!!
