Saw this on Sunday morning and the screening was surprisingly well attended (probably about 70% full) - even though they put us in one of the bigger / nicer screens that are usually reserved for pa*d for films.

I thought the film was funny and worth waking up for (thankfully!). Wasn't expecting it to be as crude as it was, maybe I was half asleep but some of those jokes woke me up! I liked Christina Applegate (I do find her quite funny) although the focus was never meant to be on her so her comedic parts were fairly limited.

I felt that this was all quite 'samey', like I've seen this type of film before and I've seen the two main actors play similar characters already (not that Drew Barrymore doesn't do it well). Maybe I'm getting an unjustified sense of deja vu with it all. Have the leads played similar roles together in a previous film? I feel like I've seen them together in something else. And I agree with Preston that the chemistry between the two leads wasn't totally lacking - I don't think that was a big problem for the film, they came across as a believable couple for me.

7/10 because while I don't think it offers anything new, the film still comes together well for what it is.

Well here's my review of Going the Distance,it is a very average rom-com and the plot is even more mediocre, the trials and tribulations of a long distance relationship? Anyone can write a script like that! However, I am do like watching rom coms even if it's very predictable and quirky Drew is ever more watchable than the bland Jennifer Anniston. This film was much funnier than The Switch I thought. There's been alot of mention about how crude this film is and I have to agreed. It's not like fart jokes, but in depth talk about sex, some of which was really unnecessary but some did bring out some laughs. I guess they were trying to add a new dimension to the genre and I am sure it's a realistic reflection of how some friend's banter. Justin Long's growing on me a little, but I have to agreed he's very far from being a male romantic lead just yet. 6.5/10

Saw this on Sunday, thought it was good. Liked the way that it didn't follow the usual romcom pattern, i.e. someone sleeps with someone else, puts the relationship in jeopardy and then they work things out. Drew was good as always, not that fussed on Justin Long. He was just ok. For me, Christina Applegate really did well in this. Small part but she did well with it and was funny in a not so obvious way as Dan the roommate.

Worth checking out. It's a little crude in places and the language is quite full on which I have absolutely no problem with whatsoever, am just saying that for some people it could be an issue if you were taking someone that gets easily offended!

I doubt it will be full, but I am guessing they are moving it's release date, so as to not clash with The Switch.....
