127 Hours
I'll try not to give out a spoiler about Danny Boyle's new film, but I think it's pretty obvious from the trailer what happens and anyone who knows about this true life story, but just hearing reports that at all screenings so far, people who have seen it have either required medical attention or fainted. At Telluride Film festival, 1 person required medical attention, at the Toronto Film festival 3 fainted in the 1st screening , another 1 at the 2nd screening.
So I suppose this is advance warning for all FMUKers who don't like horror, even though this film is a drama

I don't know anything about the story but the trailer tells me I may like it! :)

Re: 127 Hours
I think it's better to go into the film without reading anymore about it.
Some people have said the filming is too flashy (in the usual Danny Boyle style) for a story like this.

I will definitely go without knowing much more than the 1 minute something shown in the trailer!

Re: 127 Hours
I've got the book it was based on, which I'll probably read next. I've also entered the ballot for tickets to it's screening at the London Film Festival so fingers crossed for that. Can't wait to see this.

I'm sure the film's rating will make sure people go in with some knowledge, as will the mix of reactions in papers over it all.

I'd say just avert your eyes at the gruesome bits.

Umm...but the whole film revolves around that crucial scene...

That's me out then. I'm a fainter. I'd be dribbling onto the shoulder of the person next to me and collapsing to the floor in a heap. I'll wait for the DVD I think.superhero wrote:I'll try not to give out a spoiler about Danny Boyle's new film, but I think it's pretty obvious from the trailer what happens and anyone who knows about this true life story, but just hearing reports that at all screenings so far, people who have seen it have either required medical attention or fainted. Re: 127 Hours
Regarding that here's a quote from producer Christian Coulson at Movie-Con III a few weeks ago:Beate wrote:I'd say just avert your eyes at the gruesome bits.
How much can an audience take of how he frees himself?
Christian: The measure of success is that the audience has to be rooting for it to happen. It's not a horror film; it's something he's doing for a reason. It took him 45 minutes to do it - it's not real time, no - but it's not something you can respectfully skim over or avert your gaze from.
Here's more from that Q&A if anyone's interested
