Mr Glass you will make a great PT, good luck with the course, it does sound hard but will really be worth it in the end o/

For now I'm still concerntrating on staying the same weight, so far so good, I've found it reasonably easy, although I don't want to jinx it :cross:
I've found eating little and often helps, but sometimes it makes me hungrier than if I just had 3 meals a day instead of smaller meals with snacks!!

Congratulations JMD, it sounds like you have it all under control :D

With my running I'm back to normal now, but I defintely need to go and get some good running shoes, my trainers have made one of my toes very sore!!

Once again I am amazed by your zest for life MrGlass. Well done! Keep it up, come here to teach us what you have learned and hopefully by repeating it you will remember it better yourself as well!

Good luck with the course. If I have learned anything about you in this thread, I just KNOW that you will be great!

Well done MrGlass with all your studying and I promise the Latin names will become easier especially if you break them down into function and anatomy eg Extensor Hallucis Longus tendon ie it's an extender, its attached to the Hallux (big toe) and longus its the long tendon and I promise it will become second nature whereas now it's like learning a foreign language from a book without actually speaking it.

I would enjoy having a strict personal trainer as they achieve the best results, I know I moan a lot about having to be good but I do take on board what advice everyone gives so thanks to everyone.

Well done JMD1983 with the healthy eating I would struggle to keep it up and work 60 hours a week even unpregnant.
Glad to hear your running is going so well Annej I'm impressed and hope your toe gets better.

I'm guilty for not giving my results, I've stayed the same weight but lost an inch from my hips, it must be the Sketchers shape ups and the Fit flops which I try to wear most of the time (outfits permitting)!

Well well, I know I was going to be super busy with my studies and a little pa*d work commitment but damn, the theory work is so much that I'll need to drop the little pa*d work that I still had!

I'm telling you all this here because I didnt want this thread to come of the first page as it seemed dangerously near the bottom ;) So how is everyone? Forgive me but would you all mind I leave out doing the progress charts for another 6 weeks until my course is over and have passed all my exams as there is so much to cram in. What? Why are you all cheering? Oh no, no no, it doesnt mean you can all relax your exercising and dieting, oh no, I still want you to come here and let us know your progress and motivate each other as I will still accumulate all the results when I satrt the chart again!

So everyone on good stead with their health goals? Remember to recite your goals, its the key to drive your challenges.

Well as I do the course, I'll drop in the main points of interest. But what have I learnt so far? Plenty (all theory work so far, I start going to the classes from Monday). Diane will be proud of me as I can now draw a skeleton and name most of the 206 bones in a body (just bones, havent gone onto joints and muscles yet). I can also tell the whole story of bone growth from embryo to late adulthood (its called the Ossification process). What would be of more immediate interest to all of you, is that the key minerals for strong bones and growth is calcium. Make sure you have sufficient calcium intake to maintain and improve your bones. Resistive exercises are also important to strengthen your bones. If you lack exercises and calcium, your bones will become more weak and suffer from osteporosis, be more prone to injuries etc.

I have also learnt about all the components to Physical fitness and the 3 types of bodies, Endomorph, Ectomorph and Mesomorph. No one has just 100% one type of body, we all have a mixture of all 3 but 1 type always dominate. Most of us on this thread I suspect are dominantly Ectomorphs. This means our metabolism is naturally lower than an Endomorph and that we have to work hard to lose weight and increase our metabolism but we are naturally strong. Endomorphs, have high metabolism rates, are naturally thin, and fit but they have to work very hard to add muscle. Mesomorphs are the bodies that are naturally athletic. They can gain and lose wight easily. Lucky bastards! Even they have a negative though in that it is easy for them to overtrain..ha! No, ok that was immature. But remember we all have a mixture of all 3.

Oh, I still have my run to tell you all about as well, less than 2 weeks now. I booked my train and room in Newcastle. The event is going to be boadcast live on BBC one, wow. On the day before the run, I am going to tour around with my friends, any ideas what we shouldnt miss? But while they will stay for 4 days I can only stay the 2 as I have to get back to my damn studies, bloody bad timing. And I am going to have to abandon my idea of running in the cape as I dont have time to spend making it :( Main thing is though, is I keep up with my training and I'm happy to tell you all I'm ready!! I've run the distance of a half marathon 3 times now. Best time so far is 2hrs (21k). So to all my sponsors, I wont let you down! And of course my Asthma UK charity :)

OK, that was my little break from work and study, this maybe the only thread I will be visiting in the next 6 weeks.

Go girls you got the power :) And lads, whatever the hell you are upto, good health to you all.

Breaking your meals into 5 a day (include a mid morning and mid afternoon snack) is perfect. I'm surprised you feeling hungrier as breaking your meals up supposed to do quite the opposite. The reason you are hungrier could be several reasons. 1. Are you drinking enough water/tea? Often, you may think you are hungry but actually you are thirsty - the brain can get confused. 2. Are you eating too little calories for the whole day? Dont let your caloric deficit be too low. 3. You might be eating too much carbs/sugar which increases cravings. Make sure your protein/carb/fat ratio is proprotioned properly. For an ectomorph body, usually something like 50% protein, 30% carb, 20% Fat.

You doing fantastic, Annej, considering your busy schedule, staying focussed on maintaining your weight is great discipline o/

Oh I am definitely mainly mesomorph then! Athletic and skinny ;)

Well done MrGlass on keeping up with your training when you are so busy with your studies as well! We'll all have to watch the run on tv now to see if we can spot you! :)

I am starting to gain more and more weight which is upsetting me more than I thought it would. I am still being quite healthy and try to exercise when I can but as I have some back troubles which are getting worse as my body is changing, I am sometimes finding it hard. I don't mind the bump growing, that's just a sign the baby is growing and doing well. But unfortunately the rest of my body is also changing (ie: getting huge!!!) and I struggle with that a bit. I want to look like a pregnant supermodel. You know the stick person who looks like they swallowed a watermelon. But alas, I look more just like a watermelon all over now!

Oh well, it's for a good cause right? Keep the wonderful end goal in mind and then back to the scales!

How is everyone else doing? Still keeping up all the good work even though the dreadful weather is definitely inviting pigging out on the sofa?

Gosh, it will be another 3 weeks I think before I start studying training for pregnancy, wish I could tell for sure if you on the right track or not. I have learnt a little bit so far (very little!) and that is the rest of your body needs to be able to provide extra stability for your own core to support the weight of the baby, so just having a bump growing is not right as you will have too much pressure on your virtebrae column harming your posture (Diane might be able to shed light). So by the sounds of it, I think you might be just fine :) But obviously my word is not to be trusted on this...not yet ;) Oh and calcium is important for both you and the baby...just not quite sure how much is recommended for your stage. Calcium is what makes bones grow (calcification process)! Also fat is important, it builds brains for the baby, to put it crudely!

I found this link here which seems to be a great list of Dos and Donts during pregancy. I know you are very old school and want to go by your own feminine instincts but do have a read of this list, its not long and seems very concise with logical explanations.

http://www.bygpub.com/natural/pregnancy.htm

But seriously, well done on trying to keep to a healthy path with that incredible goal in sight o/

Thanks for the link! Of course I read up on what I am (not) supposed to be doing and stick to some rules. It's just a lot of changes to your body...and most women as so conditioned to hate weight gain that I find it difficult to see it as a good thing now. Still trying to hold in my stomach which is definitely not easy at 5.5 months pregnant! :D
