Turning Point was a disaster.

The Roundhouse is run by incompetents, really.

The timing was wrong on the tickets. It was open at 4pm, not 3pm, so we had to sit round when we could easily have gone to see Michael Gambon's new play beforehand. But that was just the beginning. Oh, I should have been smarter and have seen the signs of incompetence early on...

Getting frisked for knives/guns for entry to a family event isnt acceptable, nor is the fact that you cant carry your bag with you into the event. On top of this, the 'no re-entry' rule was the final straw.-- really, no re-entry even for those who pa*d £18? what a farce run by thieves.

Shortly after they lost my medication that was in the side pocket of bag that i was forced to give to the cloakroom, we left. i needed to go to the chemist to get replacements anywaym, and the others didnt want to leave me on my own.

Sorry that we didnt put the tickets to more use, but it really is an appallingly run venue. I really dont think the line up of Professor Green and co were worth that much trouble, given theat they've made plenty of free appearances across the country this summer.

Thankfully we had a good noshup at Nandos across the road using our NHS 20% discounts!

But i certainly wont be going back the Roundhouse again, even with free tickets. Theres a good reason why they are NOT being b*ght!

My oh and I went to the Turning Point festival on Friday evening. Guess what, we stayed for 10 minutes, and left. I hated it. What a horrible environment. Should have stayed at the World's End instead of wasting my time going there and back.

Yes, the airport style frisking was a bit strange, haven't been groped by a man for a while haha... anyway, the music was rather awful but we mainly went for the comedy tent, timed it perfectly to see Milton Jones, and he was on top form, so well worth it..

I've booked tickets for someone else for Round House and did it in HIS name. (as I went to Silverstone yesterday). And about 3.30 - 4.00 pm I received a text saying he wasn't let in!!! 8O Felt really bad because I know that his train journey to London would cost him at least 15-17 pounds and he went to Round house as he wanted to go see the venue, etc and for him it was a trip to London just to get the Round house yesterday... Don't know any details, but by any chance has anyone seen what had happened to a man in a white jacket? I'm curious to know, but I don't think he'll tell me now.... Reading previous posts I can see there were a few problems at the venue (personal search, wrong time, and couple more?) .
Sorry about your medicine raj101!

I am sad to hear Turning Point was a disaster! It is crazy how they allowed it to be that disorganized. Raj, I would have asked them to p*y for the medicine they lost on principle!

I am not sure about this but I have a feeling it is a fairly new venue in terms of music. I do know it is charity funded and the staff may have belonged to Turning Point rather than Roundhouse staff??

I have been to the Roundhouse on a few occasions to see gigs (both pa*d and unpaid) and never had any problems with them. We were given wristbands so if you left you could return etc etc...a friend of mine has a record deal with them and seems very happy with their work.

I think jpeg may be right about this. I have fond memories of visits to The Roundhouse as a teenager, to see plays, so I was glad to see it re-opened. I've been to concerts there relatively recently and had no problems - in fact, my liking for the venue would predispose me to go there again, whereas I won't go near the really huge places, however much I want to see the artiste(s).

I went mainly for the cabaret part but when we got there, it had finished. So all that was left was dreadful music.
