raineylb wrote:WOW TheyCallMeMrGlass reading back through this thread you certainly know your stuff, I'd like to lose a half a stone and I know exactly where I'm going wrong but its changing the habits of a lifetime, I never eat breakfast just can face food for at least an hour or 2 after getting up so end up eating a couple of biscuits  to stop the tummy rubbles at break time! Will grab a sandwich if I'm home for lunch, if I have to go out it will be a bar of choc or packet of crisps  on the go, I'll then have a healthy dinner with the kids, but if I'm working the evening I'll be hungry again when I get in so it will be toast & jam or some biscuits before bed  ....not to mention the gallons of tea I drink!!
Yeah, those lifelong bad habits do need to change! Its not as difficult as you think though, as long as you introduce changes here and there gradually and not too drastic. Make a plan for your schedule in the week. For instance, from this week eat a oat cereal breakfast and an omellete, or scrambled eggs (very quick to make) so sleep a little earlier, get up a little earlier. Reduce sugar in tea. Follow tips I gave a couple of posts ago. Know when you are doing your late shifts of work and plan around it for both your exercises and food menu. The key to achieving your targets is to set your self goals and intermediate goals.

I did a test on my friend the other day who was round my house. I asked him how much sugar he wants in his tea, he said 2. I put in 1. He drank the tea without saying anything about it. I then asked him half way, how was his tea? He replied it was great. He might have just being polite, so I asked him "Its not too sweet is it? You see I might have accidentally put in 3 sugars!". Then he thought about it, and said "well, maybe but...no its really fine, taste good!). Then I told him actually its only 1. And he gave me one hell of a confused expression!

So it really is all in the sub-conscious mind! He momentarily believed I might have put in 3 sugars! I was really glad I did that on my friend, I felt I proved something! I feel like Derren Brown now!
YOU WILL ALL transfer £20 to into my account....Cant wait to see if that works.
raineylb wrote:However I don't smoke but have seen some posts on this thread about people trying to give, this may be a little incentive for you based on a 5.70 per pack & a 20 a day habit (halve for 10, double for 40), by giving up you will save approx £39.90 per week, £171 per month, £1,043 per 6 months, £2,081 per year, £20,805 in 10 years & £41,610 in 20 years!!! Now have this pinned on my fridge hoping OH will finally take note!!
Clever!! o/

I know that I will never stick to the breakfast thing, can't really do the going to bed earlier/getting up earlier as at least 4 nights a week I only get about 5/6 hours due to the the late shifts at one job and the early start of dropping kids off at childcare to get to other job on time. I think my first goal will be to get organised and when making kids packed lunches, prepare something to have at break-time instead of the biscuits.

Your right about the sugar in the tea, I have never had it but have gradually weaned my OH off it. My downfall is the latte with syrup and brown sugar on top of the creamy top to make it chruchy.....good job I don't get chance to go into town and get one often!! I'm going to keep popping back in here its quite inspiring!

Your calculation works for b*ying junk food lunches, packets of crisps etc as well. When I figured out how much I was spending on a yearly basis by just b*ying a crap lunch every day, I started making my own. Healthier, usually tastier and much cheaper! And you cut out that temptation of going to the shops at lunchtime.

OK, the propoints system definitely is NOT working for me, as is the same for the majority of people on the WW forums :/
Ive put on 7 pounds since the new plan, following the plan, figuring out the new points religously
Im reverting back to the old points sytem atleast I know that works :/

Hi everyone, just getting this thread to the front page again as due to having difficulty breathing in my snug (as in tight not warm) clothes I think I need to get back on the healthy eating programme and upping my exercises. I don't think that gluttony counts as a medical condition

Does 'being in the Christmas spirit' count as an excuse for eating lots of rubbish? ;)

Lol, this weather definitely makes me want to eat more and Baileys is so tempting in the cold!! but I keep telling myself if I relax too much I will just spend January trying to lose what I would have put on!! If I have a treat 1 day, I've been eating less the other days, although I definitely won't be sticking to this next weekend 8O

Just discovered this quaint little group! I suppose I'll have to wait another four years before posting anything productive...
Go ahead, make my day - by visiting my blog: http://jacobthehobnob.wordpress.com/

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2012" club. I saw 32, which is rather delightful.. I beat Mr. Glass on free films but he narrowly inched me out on total films seen.

Member number 33 of the "100 free films in 2011" club. I saw 20, interestingly enough. My more realistic target was to see more free films than TheyCallMeMrGlass. I lost.

Wow, Weirdfilm, I dont care how old you are but you are the first bloke/bloke kid (uh whatever) to post here (oh apart from me). Welcome!, there's much to learn now, not just from 4 years from now....wait what the hell did you mean by that anyway??

Its quite simple everyone. I dont want to hear anyone making New Year Resolution of losing weight or getting fitter...why? Because you should be doing that ALREADY ;) And you should be conscious of what you eat especially now with all the temptations of the Christmas treats which horrifyingly are knocked down to half price in this very competetive trading arena. Resist the temptation of b*ying too much cakes ,sweets, chocolates, biscuits. b*y enough for Christmas. I really mean it, just b*y enough for everyone to have a great Christmas day, enjoy the delicious xmas pudding/cake and whatnot. But only Christmas day and perhaps xmas eve or boxing day (but not all 3 days). Whatever chocolates and cakes remain from the festivities, save them for your comfort days in the folllowing weeks.

I know its soo bloody cold to do brisk walks and running outdoors. I'm supposed to be training for my Paris marathon but no way can I do this outside. I'll just have to make sure I keep up my fitness by exercising indoors. And thats what you can all do. If going to the gym is a bit difficult right now, here are some great 10min fatburning workout videos for you. You'll enjoy doing them, there over a hundred workout videos on this channel.

http://www.youtube.com/user/sparkpeople?blend=1&ob=4

As well as everyone here motivating each other, I will also give professional motivational advice and tips on workouts and nutrition because well, I don't quite know how the bloody hell it happened, its been so sudden...but I am a qualified Personal Trainer ;) Still waiting to get my REP status though which is the official registry of PTs, should be imminent though.

Well done JMD, Diane, RawR, Annej, Reineylb and you too Weirfilms for keeping this thread alive...keep up the good work, I see you all trying your best to avoid those festive pitfalls...keep that up girls. Oh and boy!

You know the answer to that ;)

Have you all thought about b*ying the Kinect for Christmas? Worth checking out for getting the whole family enjoying a bit of physical activities but be warned, unlike the PS3 Motion, and Will consoles, the Xbox Kinect requires between 6-10ft distance between the user and the Kinekt receiver.

Personally, I think the Will Console, plus the Wii Fit Plus is a brilliant fitness gaming machine and its now 5 years old...A grandfather in console terms but still the best! The Wii Fit Plus does actually improve your core and stability but no so much in the fatburn area (hough it does that too), for that the Wii Sports or Ea Sports are more effective.

I also have a playstation 2 with eyetoy and there are some brilliant physical games that you can b*y for just a couple of quid at Computer Exchange (www.cex.com). Theses games using the eyetoy are really pretty good fat burning games, totally recommend them, and dirt cheap.
