:rofl2: :rofl2: I didn't like it either, but I've seen much worse plays.

Well it is peak season for the theatres at the moment, so I wouldn't expect lots of free tickets, but probably an avalanche of them in January

I've just posted the GILT scheme on the Bargain Board and guess what, Onassis is included, but there is some good stuff, too.

It's obviously not selling, wonder when they are closing?

It's booking to 5 Feb so my guess is that's it.

It's shame really, plays always struggle. I think Birdsong is struggling too even with Ben Barnes!

I'd say it depends on the play. Just about everything I ever see at, for instance, the Almeida, the Donmar Warehouse and the Royal Court, is sold out.

It's not even possible to generalise and say that it's serious plays that suffer, as opposed to comedies, because some of the aforementioned theatres have plays tackling heavy issues - though often leavened with humour, too.

From what I heard about Birdsong, it was the poor adaptation that was criticised - maybe it shouldn't even have been attempted. And perhaps too few people nowadays know who Onassis was, still less care? Now a musical version might have stood a chance, perhaps - it didn't have any songs, did it?!

Lol, Barbara and Frank! Without wanting to sound like the demon offspring of Gillian McKeith, I do have a phobia of Barbara Streisand. So the very idea of watching somebody doing an impersonation of her leaves me in somewhat of a cold sweat.

:rofl2: For a change, I didn't grab any tickets. This must be similar to the Rat Pack. I once won tickets for that, and left during the interval.
