They could make a movie out of your epic journey back to Edinburgh Alythonian, glad you made it without any broken bones or freezing bits. o/
Any thoughts on who you would cast in the main role as Alythonian for this movie, havingascreen?

"Big Tam" (Sean Connery) would be an obvious choice for the main male lead or maybe Billy Connolly as it would give him some great opportunities for swearing!!! :giggle:

Glad you got back safe and sound Alythonian. You'll surely not be attempting to travel back up there again this coming week when the temperature is to fall again.

We still can't get the car out of the driveway - solid ice from the garage to the main road. No army here!!
I got the car out of the garage and down the lane - yippee. I can now escape at last without being totally reliant on walking or public transport!

sadly due back in Furry Boot Town on Monday as have got a huge transaction completing! I gather more snow is forecast. I'm only supposed to be there Monday/Tuesday so fingers crossed. Don't want to get stuck again as my sister is due her twins next week and I'm not missing that!

I really dont want to wear them and carry them about all night, they're ugly and green and my dress is long and sleek. Gonna risk the strappys as won't be walking far between taxis, i'll get some gallant man to carry me if i have to walk more than a few hundred yards :cross:

I heard a few days ago Tescos Direct had stopped distributing in Scotland temporarily due to problems with the snow.
I hope the weather report is wrong again, they said snow from now till Xmas! Yikes!

Exactly, I dress for the weather outside, and then leave everything in the cloakroom. Hope you have a great time, havingascreen, and many gallant men helping you!

Gosh, sorry to hear of all the tough times for our Northern friends. Sounds like a nightmare. You think the UK would learn from other colder countries by now. I wonder if their extreme weather has such an adverse effect on them too.

Take care and keep warm everyone, I hear the chill is coming back.

Apparently my employer is now making contingency plans for any future snow-related disruption, including booking hotel rooms and arranging transport. We've yet to hear any detail but staff are already asking whether this transport would get them home again, as they don't want to reach work, only to be stuck there for hours or days!

There was an article in the Evening Standard last night (or was it the Metro paper?) about winter tyres, which are law in Germany but people here mostly don't know what they are. I wouldn't dream of driving around in snow with flimsy summer tyres!
